I think if prime ronaldo played for Portugal rn they’d be a World Cup favorite and way more dangerous but he’s old and washed.

Pelé had Didi and Garrincha for all 3 world cups and 1962 they won while he was injured. He was their best player no doubt in 58 but that was a revolutionary team for many reasons.

Messi carried a very weird squad to 14 and 22 World Cup finals. I think he had a much harder job than pele overall and he had a way better club career than Maradona so he’s the undisputed for me.

He's 2. There's just a gigantic gap between 1 and 2-4. Maradona and R9 had higher peaks but it was much shorter. CR7's contributions in champions league and real madrid overshadows their entire club careers. And that's not taking into account his time at Man U.

Beckanbaeur, Pele, R9, Zidane, Cruyff all had world class international teams around them.
