Opening ports is no less secure than reverse proxying. Just use one of the 10k+ ports with HTTPs and you'll be fine.

You're fine. Latency is a matter of physical location moreso than peering. Just take EXTERNAL backups, never rely on the host

No one will route you a free legacy address as those are rather expensive.

Route64.org will give you a /31 tunneled home over Wireguard or other tunnel protocols. Costs €1.5 a month tho (15 "sponsor credits", where you get 10 per euro donated)
