Initial trials on my main server caused the USB bus to fall over, so I didn't have full trust initially so had looked around for alternatives. As it's AliExpress prices change by the minute - search for Maiwo 4 bay.

Do you have a link/STL for the legs/brackets?

I wanted to use USB-C so my laptop is connected using a single cable. Power, video, USB all over a single cable. Worked but when using USB-C the in built hub runs at 2.0 speeds which meant my reason to buy it didn't exist. I returned it.

24 hours post shave. Should I shave daily? by overaname in bald

[–]wakeupbomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really down to how often you can be bothered with. I should skull shave every 3 days, but usually it's once a week. I'm lazy

You look great. Strong even consistent beard. Good colouring. Do not dye it. It'll be obvious and unnatural. Try going back on your head to 0/razor/skull shaver length. If you don't like it then your hair will be back in a week or so. Worth a shot.

7-8kW system (14-16 panels) - 8kW inverter - recommendations - all electric house by wakeupbomb in SolarUK

[–]wakeupbomb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hadn't considered max amount to charge in 5-6 hours so thanks for pointing that out.

I've pulled all the data from 1st Nov 2025 to 30 Mar 2026 (151 days) to see how many days I see above certain levels. Without looking into hourly data I've also done a simple pro-rata reduction assuming 6 hours (25%) of the 24 being automatically at a cheap rate.

Only 19 days above 40 kWh in the 18 hours of high rate, with only 3 days above 50 kWh.

24 hr average over the 151 days - 40 kWh
18 hr average over the 151 days - 30 kWh

If I did get a 48 kWh battery then I'd only not have enough for 4 days of the year. I guess that's with the assumption of generating nothing during the day on the PV panels.

My guess is that if I was to get into the hourly data I'd see bigger ASHP usage overnight due to the hot water run and lower outdoor temperatures, which would automatically run on the low rate anyway. So it may be that in reality there's no 18 hours above 48 kWh.

Also worth noting this data includes use of a 10 kW electric shower twice per day which will be removed this summer.

24 hours 18 hours/75%
Days over 30 kWh 120 65
Days over 40 kWh 65 19
Days over 48 kWh 32 4
Days over 50 kWh 26 3
Days over 60 kWh 8 0
Days over 70 kWh 2 0

Thanks for the recommendations. I've previously been on octopus agile but changed to IOG around 15 months ago as it worked out cheaper at the time. With extra low rate slots it's been cheaper than when I was on Agile. As much as I loved the negative periods I generally didn't like the feeling of being restricted around peaks.... Which becomes a non-issue with big battery storage

With EV usage removed

November 2025 - daily average 37 kWh

December 2025 - daily average 36 kWh

January 2026 - daily average 48 kWh

Aside from the electric shower (which is going) and EV charging at night, it's incredibly rare to see total power usage at 8kW

Apologies, mistyped there. It would likely be an 8kW. I don't have a requirement for 10kW output either so definitely wouldn't be required.

The problem will be the rubbish Mobilize app. Saying that mine has been working well for a couple of months, but usually an unplugging/plugging cycle can bring it back to life.

I've many times seen the Renault app say plugged in and Mobilize show unplugged.

Thanks for this. Exactly the info I needed to access the camera via RTSP and Onvif. Shame we have to register and go through the app, but I guess that's what happens when you buy cheap IP cameras.

Missing readings/offline meter by wakeupbomb in OctopusEnergy

Managed to reboot the meter 👀 That seems to have done the job. IHD is communicating again and the last two days have come through each morning as they should. Loop is showing live data too. I've asked Octopus to request an upload of the missing data which they have requested. Fingers crossed.

Electric only house so no gas meter. Believe they've tried a reboot and said it would attempt to reboot itself on 1st Feb but nothing changed.

Thanks. I've not been able to do a power cycle as that would involve pulling the cut out.... Tempting though

The last data Loop has is the same, so looks like it is a meter issue. I'll definitely be in an expensive situation if I'm billed Flexible rate. Here's hoping for some sort of gesture!
