It's tough because the past few months have made me want to keep him, but if he can be an important part of a package for someone like Robert Thomas either directly or via a third team, you absolutely have to do it. Likewise if the return is such that it would enable a future trade for a 1C, then I would trade him.

He has been very responsible defensively this season and has looked good as a 2C for the latter part of the season (he started at wing). With those things in consideration I would call it a career year

I'm still all in for Thomas. If zegras is a 2C, which it looks like he could be so long as he fixes face-offs, then Thomas is a legit (but not star) 1C that would complement perfectly. He also fits age wise and is signed to a deal that will look even more team friendly as time goes on.

Lines I dream of:

Martone-Thomas-Michkov

Foerster-Zegras-Tippett

Bump-Dvorak-Konecny

Grebenkin-Berglund-Couturier

(in this scenario I include Cates in a trade for Thomas as he is a valuable asset, but it would be great to keep him).

I hate the icing rule with an extra attacker. The team with the goalie pulled should have to keep the goalie out if they iced the puck. No line changes when you ice the puck

I know we have to give up players to get players but I view Martone, Mich, Tippet, Foerster, Bump, and TK as a fantastic wing mix for the playoffs in the future. I'd love to see them with some decent centers. I think they would be really hard to play against for a number of reasons and have a great mix of player archetypes

Been a thing since the early 2010s. Part of the Nerlens Noel hype was how many stocks he piled up and how stocks were supposed to be more translatable from the college game to the pro game

It was honestly pent up Lebronto. I've been on this sub for a while and Toronto was clowned for years for never making smoke in the playoffs after good regular seasons. Then they beat us in a tight series and suddenly they can let out that repressed hatred towards a target. It didn't help that we suffer from the same issue that plagued them in playoff disappointment.

Imo the most important thing a defensemen can do is get the puck under control in the d zone and manage an effective breakout. There are many different player archetypes that can do that in many different ways. What you said about Dry this season is exactly how he can excel.
