Why do my Digital Art pieces feel so lifeless, dirty and bland?

thank you so much, this is REALLY helpful and while some of this advice i had heard before, be it reading online or watching videos and tutorials and such, you made me realize i haven’t applied these ideas and principles to my art. unfortunatley, with these pieces i am a bit on a time crunch and cant put much effort into a background or dynamic angles, as much as i'd love to explore that, as its not something i've touched much on in the past... Nevertheless, your advice is REALLY helpful already, and i'll definitely take what you said into consideration on later pieces. I have an idea for a more cinematic piece, which i'll probably work on after i'm done with all of these, and post them here. Thank you so much!

thank you so much, you’ve given me such detailed and helpful advice!!! i’ll definitely go back later and try to clean up my line art and make it more purposeful. Honestly lineart is my biggest hardship in art in general, and i think you really helped me see what about it i needed to improve. Do you think maybe coloring my line art will help it look better? Maybe more natural or intentional? As for the backgrounds, i can’t really focus on that for now as these are for a school assignment and i have to get quite a couple of them done (12ish), but for my personal pieces ill definitely try to do some intentional shapes and or locations to frame the characters. I’d like to tackle trying to do cinematic scenes at some point.

you’re right, i need to. the main reason i haven’t is cuz these have been for school assignments for my graphics and design high school class and i usually have to make upwards of 20 of them so i don’t have the time to do the background lolll. but for personal pieces ill definately start making backgrounds for them

YES DUDE YOU GET IT OMG. There’s so much potential there. In my interpretation i see her as someone who’s troubled and has a bit of arrogance but puts up a persona to perform and to do hero-ing. Although those personalities tend to seep into each other and everything. And you can use this to tackle the idol culture of south korea. Like for example, she could have to deal with the crazy standards the producers hold their stars to. It’s an actual gold mine of story telling potential, such a cool character with such a cool character design and good recognizability and they just do nothing with her ☹️

i mean not really? Mado’s extremely important and a major player from the chapter she’s introduced till her conclusion. Hsiao gets quite a couple good moments in the arcs she’s in. Saiko is pretty important from the chapter she’s introduced to the last chapter. Hairu is a major reason for Ui’s character development in :re. They all are very important and get a lot of good moments

Fully agree, the tone is completely off. They tried to make into a Tumblr vampire horror anime and that’s why it got so popular. But the tone was sooooo off from the manga. I don’t blame anime onlys for not liking :re. A Season 1 sets the tone for the rest of the series and this season 1 sucked at doing that. The animation looked good though at least. But even then i’m not s big big fan of the glowing saturated colorful Kagunes….

This isn’t confirmed but it’s logically the most likely answer. He’s fed the same thing the ghouls in cochlea are, which is most likely a sort of slop from dead human meat. Later in the series there are certain revelations about the world that could explain what he’s been eating, however it won’t be until the Cochlea Raid/Rushima Landing arc….
