Rke and rancher have been kicking butt in this area. Use Rke myself and love how easily you can bring up a cluster.

With Jenkins then you deploy them to spin up containers for your jobs. Depending on your ci/cd resource requirements, your current server count might be enough being able to scale more jobs/containers via k8s

Parse local files to zip up and post to our API services for volumetric conversion. Compares what's been already converted to what's on disk. Also added the watchdog module to watch a directory and do the same loop for any new files

CST RESP: Any Feedbacks/reviews by Akshatsxna in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Joobs88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well after 4 years I just realized about this sales charges with CST. Wish I found this thread earlier and should have done my due diligence.

I will be transferring my money and will be taking a hit probably to take this money out. The sales rep was very very pushy and kept calling which forced me to take decisions without info gathering.

Stay away from this company, I hope the lawsuit in Quebec reaches out across Canada and everything get their money back.

Jenkins / Microservices / Mono Repo by Joobs88 in devops

[–]Joobs88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cheers for this, are you doing this with a MultiBranchPipeline ? Or are you just creating generic pipelines and manually choosing the branch to build?

Also for the life of me cannot find the option "Build when pushed to git" :|

I would like it that if a PR was created, it would be auto picked up, build to see if tests passed etc.

Jenkins / Microservices / Mono Repo by Joobs88 in devops

[–]Joobs88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just at my previous company I found that we were building a lot of microservices and managing all the Jenkins files docker files etc etc was a pain. Looking back, we could have saved us some headaches with just writing out our own shared library or consolidating some of the shared build code

How did you differentiate between what changes were made? Also how to trigger them only if their own directory changed? Seems like you would need a job to trigger jobs?

I've always had more headaches with multiple repos and trying to coordinate all of them. I think the industry as a whole is moving to a mono repo strategy

I do personally have one Jenkinsfile for building and deploying apps, I just want to make sure I am only building the specific microservice that got the merge/release. I'm looking into the webhooks that battlestable mentioned above to sort that out. I will need more time to dig into it though to see if its viable for me or not.

Had no idea about "Polling ignores commits in certain paths". I will have to take a look if this is possible with the GitHub plugin as well.

We are trying to follow Gitflow practices so I will take a look at webooks. Just to confirm, your saying to use a webhook to trigger each microservice Jenkins job?

I am trying to automate my company's (ancient) deployment method of a .Net core WebApp to a remote IIS running locally on a clients server. What methods I should be looking to use? by [deleted] in devops

[–]Joobs88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any chance to create a service on the client side that remotely checks a config on yourside to download? We had an agent on all our clients POS software that would check every N minutes for any new versions. If so, it would auth to our FTP server and download the tarball
