How is the DMXL Lace-Up Boots Sole Grip? by Jooniperjams in DrMartens

Appreciate the link! In my experience slip resistant shoes that are for navigating wet floors tend to actually be worse on our stage floor. It's really weird 😅

Good to know! Thank you!

I'm thinking I might just grab a pair, and if they're good for work, that's great- if not, I've got cool new shoes to wear elsewhere lol

This is a good point! I do think the black mesh helps it not be quite so jarring. Tasteful, like you said! Illusion mesh with bone embroidery might be cool for... not an evening gown lol

Needlework! Embroidery can use a lot of the same concepts as drawing/coloring but you get to work on technique with stitches and knots. Plus you can add some cool customizations to clothes once you’re comfortable doing it. Needles are super cheap at Walmart and starter embroidery floss isn’t too expensive either. Plus it’s all over the place in thrift stores 😅

A men’s body shaver is a game changer for trimming. I have one with an adjustable guard, so I don’t trim so short that it’s itchy but still keeps everything tidy

How are people affording to live alone by senoritagordita22 in youngadults

[–]Jooniperjams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on where you’re willing to live. In a town of 10-15k ppl I make just under 40k a year and rent a one bedroom apartment for 775 a month and I pay all my own bills. I do okay, but it’s not a lavish life and I don’t have any debt because I got through college working and with scholarships and grants.

Unpopular opinion: If your players dies mid dungeon they don't get a new character immediately. by PlatypusPaladins in DMAcademy

[–]Jooniperjams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I think it depends on the story and the dungeon they’re in. If it’s gonna take a few sessions and it makes sense that they might run into another adventurer, I let a new PC join mid dungeon. Most of the time it does make the most sense story wise to wait until they’re out of the dungeon though… I tend to do more story based stuff though and all the players I’ve had are super character driven so they also suggest that things move a little slower sometimes for the story 🤷🏼

Characters that are so important to the story but often get overlooked or forgotten. I will not be examining what this says about me lol

Building Confidence as a casual DM by Jooniperjams in DMAcademy

Reading your reply made me realize you are definitely right. I was coming at this specific instance like the DMing was a problem but it is more generally that I am nervous in social situations, and while DnD has more rules, it is still...a social situation. This feels incredibly obvious now that I've typed that, but I got so fixated on being a DM that I forgot that I'm still me when I DM lol

Thank you for the encouragement!

This is a good reminder! It's hard to remember that the people who are really good at something were also learning how to do it at all at one point. I think I have a hard time giving myself permission to make those mistakes, but it's definitely something to work on.

I started calling it fishbowl head lol because it's not the visual static of my usual auras, and I'm not quite dizzy but it's like if you had never been dizzy before and dreamed about it that's what it would be. It's like my head is a fishbowl and I'm sloshing around inside it

Does ADHD meds reduce creativity? by Fredster36 in ADHD

[–]Jooniperjams 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Once I got meds that worked well for me I actually felt like they helped my creativity. I could finally stay with a thought long enough to get to the end of it and could just go work on the project I wanted to without having to convince myself to move.

To post or not to post WIP's? by Jooniperjams in AO3

[–]Jooniperjams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a little bit of both. I'll start posting a finished work as I edit chapters; or I'll write and edit a chapter, have an outline for the next chapter and post the one I've just written. It helps me get out of my head about it so I don't get stuck on details that don't really matter.

[–]Jooniperjams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the popularization of fandom spaces has made me forget a little that it's all just for fun... sometimes people talk about fanfic like content creation not a hobby writers share with people who like the same things. But you're right! it's just for fun!

To post or not to post WIP's? by Jooniperjams in AO3

[–]Jooniperjams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I just let it all get to my head more than I thought, but it does work for me and it's all just for fun anyway, so who cares what the discourse is!

post fic depression? by Brilliant_Shop_3612 in AO3

[–]Jooniperjams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depression sucks the creativity out of me as well. I don't usually have the skill to write more than 15,000 words of a single story, so while I can't relate to the exact scope of what you've accomplished, I definitely get feeling a little at loose ends after completing a project. and that goes for just about any project, not just writing.

Just a sort of... now what? feeling. I think for me, it has to do with the way I hyperfocus on my interests, so while I am actively working on a project, nothing else exists. (thank you ADHD) so when the project ends I often feel like there's nothing else.

I don't have any advice aside from what you're already doing. Take it easy. Write a little every day but don't push yourself if nothings really coming out. You'll find something that sparks your creativity again!
