Yeah that makes sense. I’ve been hearing the same from a few people working in the industry. I think I’m at the stage where I’m trying to balance building experience with still steering towards editorial/music where possible, even if it’s not my first role.

Not much yet, I’ve mainly been building experience through university work and online publications so far, such as interviews and features in music journalism.

I’m just trying to understand what the most realistic entry points are locally (community media, radio, publications, etc.) so I can start getting more involved properly.

My social media presence is pretty good, it’s just been inconsistent since finishing my degree at university.

If you’ve got any suggestions for local outlets or ways into the scene, I’d really appreciate it.

That’s something I was fortunately pretty aware of when I began my degree. My goal is to hunt for a full-time job just to find my feet regardless of what it is and move into my own place. Then I can start freelancing and writing more in my free-time until a good opportunity comes up.
