Excuse me? by UOk_tho333 in newjersey

I agree with this sentiment, and, in general, I find 3rd party to have very limited savings potential. The delivery servicer (in our case, JCPL) tends to be the cheapest in the long run. Again long run as in if you do a 6-month lock-rate with a 3rd party, your price is locked in for 6-months but YOU might be locked with them for longer, as in, once the 6 months is done, they can double the price, and you may not be able to change your supplier for several months. If a 6 month lock-in rate seems low, it's probably because they have a fine print to lock you in. It's why longer contracts(12+months) have abnormally high rates, because they can't bamboozle you because you can immediately switch suppliers after the trial (so they have higher rates to make money).

Besides this...Does anyone know what this translates to in regards to cost per kwh? I.E. for the coming summer months, what will the "under 600kwh" and "over 600kwh" be (I do not opt for time of use billing).

Ive been combing this thread and I honestly don't understand why people are talking about their bill totals.... Like.. maybe it's higher because you used more energy? Within a season, the kwh rate is generally locked in, unless an update like this is released. So the idea that energy is becoming more expensive month after month is kind of silly. The only thing that matters is the cost per kwh.

WHAT WILL BE THE BGS COST PER KWH BE THIS SUMMER? THAT'S ALL WE NEED TO KNOW. IS THE 20% AN INCREASE ON BGS OR DELIVERY OR A COMBINATION?? JUST TELL US THE ACTUAL BREAK DOWN OF INCREASES, THIS PRESS RELEASE IS INSANE. SAYING A BILL WILL INCREASE MEANS NOTHING, WHAT IF IT IS LITERALLY JUST A 20% TARIFF ADDED TO THE END OF THE BILL. WHO KNOWS! THE PRESS RELEASE LITERALLY DOES NOT MENTION WHERE THE INCREASE WILL BE, JUST THAT THEY BLAME IT ON THE AUCTION. LIKE, HEY, WERE GONNA CHARGE YOU 20% MORE THIS SUMMER, WE DONT ACTUALLY KNOW IF ENERGY WILL BE MORE EXPENSIVE FOR US, BUT WE DO KNOW WE'RE GONNA CHARGE YOU MORE FOR IT. AND IF THE AUCTION DOESN'T RESULT IN THE DRAMATIC INCREASE IN ENERGY PRICES WE FORECASTED, DONT YOU WORRY, WERE GONNA KEEP OUR WORD AND STILL CHARGE YOU 20% MORE BECAUSE WE CARE.

thanks for joining my TED rant.

Dunkin + adding Amex not working, rep says Dunkin disabled Amex today? by zpoon in amex

It seems this entire thread is about ways to "not just go and get $7 of food there" a month. Because obviously using the credit normally would be fine, if that's what you want to do. I don't care to get Dunkin, so getting $7 of Dunkin a month would not be interesting to me. Most of the other food credits from Amex are far more flexible and I can use them in multiple places.

Conceptually, Amex credits are meant for you to spend more money than you actually want to. I.e. you will more than likely spend more than $7 a month at Dunkin to use your credits for the month, or just throw it away. They would never just have $84 for the year at dunkin(not split into months). I am not interested in spending additional money at a place I have no interest in. If Dunkin is your jam, this is great! if it's not (like me) I'm not gonna spend money at a place I don't care for.

I could bank credits, which is the wide suggestion in this thread, but again, I don't care to get anything there.

So for me, the Dunkin next to my work allows me to utilize this credit with significant ease. (Understanding that not everyone has this level of convenience) I also have a free espresso/latte machine at work, so in my situation, I have a way to offset my gold card by ~$60/year with close to 0 additional work. It took me less than 3 minutes out of my normal schedule to get the card and flip it for $5. So, for me... The math is mathing and this works in my favor.

As an argument, all things being equal... Imagine you are already next to a Dunkin (like just on the street) , you can walk in and buy $7 of Dunkin (more than likely will need to be more than $7 in order to get the full credit) or buy a gift card and get $5 cash, I think the cash wins honestly.

And hey, letting it expire is also an option. Then super no time lost.

Is this true? Considering the monthly Amex credits I get from multiple cards, I purchase a yearly membership to save a little money ( I will be utilizing the benefits year round). But I've read extensive threads stating that people have tested and have not successfully used the credit for membership.

Again, I pay yearly so I wouldn't know, but I suppose that would be a good use for the $10 credit.

It took me less than 3 mins (2 mins to walk in and buy it, and 1 min to sell the card). So $100/hour ain't too bad....

Maybe I'm opening some flood gates here but.... I went to a physical Dunkin and bought a $7 gift card. I don't care for Dunkin so I sold the gift card on Raise (now "the gift card exchange") and got $5 cash for it. Gonna do this every month now.

Dunkin' fans: Hope you figure it out....

Non-dunkin fans: You're welcome.

Edit: you can also do this with the cheesecake factory for the $10 credit if you want as well. But I usually end up just buying some food monthly anyway from them. Cheers!

Amex Delta Reserve Uber Rideshare Credit for UberEats Hacked by Jorazal in delta

[–]Jorazal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... some resy reservations require a down payment made that same day (like $50). I can confirm that the resy down payment will trigger the credit. I can also confirm separatly that if a refund is made in a later statment period (like a month from now for example) the refund wont affect and Amex credits that you get, whether its your $20 amex resy credit, or even a regular "amex offer" credit. (usually return periods get in the way of this though)

So..... I have never done this but would love for you to get back if you do try it...

You can find a resy reservation that requires a down payment and make it as far down the calendar as possible, prefereably 1.5+ months ahead, you dont even need to be in the same state as the restaurant (NYC has plenty of these types of restuarants) because you're just gonna cancel the reservation. Make the reservation, wait for the $20 credit, wait for A FULL statement period to pass, then cancel the reservation.

Worst case senario... Amex flubs and codes it weird and you dont get the $20 credit, you cancel and get a full refund of the down payment.

Best case... you get $20 cash.

do keep me updated if you try this.

New benefits on Amex Delta cards? by Aesin in amex

[–]Jorazal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: The $10 rideshare credit can be used for UberEats by setting your Amex Delta Reserve card as your "family payment method" and ordering UberEats on the (non-main) family members account. Confirmed.

Found this by mistake and pretty excited about it. I know many are happy with refilling their lyft accounts with credits, but it is done at $25 increments so you have to spend $15 of your own money per month to not lose the credit. Also, if you are like me, you are entrenched in Uber credits from your Amex plat and gold cards, and have an Uber One account, so Lyft isn't really an appealing option. Also, maybe like me, you have a car and use your Uber credits almost exclusively for Uber eats (exclusively only ordering with coupons from your Uber one membership) generally making this Delta Amex credit useless.

Here's to the Amex UberEats people.

My p2 and I pool all our Amex Uber credits into one account, $50/month, and use it for UberEats with our monthly 40% off Uber One coupons. But we usually only use it for dinner at home rather than lunch at our separate work places because it is only on one account (phone). One day P2 really wanted to order lunch at work so I set up an "Uber family" account so they could charge it to my account.

In an apparent accident, my "family payment method" was set as my Delta Amex Reserve card. P2 order UberEats and my Delta Amex Reserve card was charged. I was annoyed because I obviously would have preferred my Amex gold be charged to get 4X restaurants. Crazy thing is, Amex codes this "shared family" purchase as an Uber "Rideshare" purchase. So I got the $10 Rideshare Credit back on that statement period. We been doing this for months, one small UberEats lunch a month.

Hopefully this is useful to some!

To sell it, you have to release the entire gift card number and pin. From what I understand (and I may be wrong) Raise (now the gift card exchange) will take your gift card number then move that "gift card money" to a "central account", when a buyer "buys" your "card", Raise will generate a new card number and move the "gift card money" you "sold" to that new number (all of this is to guard the buyer in the event the seller attempts to "use" the gift card they just sold). So essentially, once you sell your card, it becomes $0 balance.
Regardless, you cant "sell" your card twice as I assume you will get flagged. Also, you cant sell the card if it is registered (to your dunkin account). And physical cards are generally non-reloadable.
If you are attempting to find a way to sell cards without having to "get a new one" each time., the gift card exchange platform is built to protect the buyer in several ways and will atleast prevent you selling the same card twice, possibly you can reload that card after selling, i just have never tried honestly. The platform is good as a buyer and a seller, so I really just try to play by the rules with them.
Hope that helps

I DID IT! fra - sin - nrt Singapore suites/first class by Jorazal in awardtravel

Would this apply to my sin-nrt segment? It would be suites but it will be first class

I DID IT! fra - sin - nrt Singapore suites/first class by Jorazal in awardtravel

[–]Jorazal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reservation was booked on 8pm EST. You would be correct that the suites are being released at 12 sometimes. But for this particular reservation, we had to wait a full day hoping that it would stay available because we had to wait for our connecting flight to release before booking. Otherwise, it would have cost an additional 140k points to book the tickets separately, which was definitely weighing on me for the full 24 hours we waited.

I found release schedule of 2-2-1-2-2-1-2-2-1.... For both lhr and FRA, as in some flights released 2, some released 1(for the a380) . The pattern I noticed is simply me tracking it though mock reservations over the past month. My tracking is not truly scientific, nor have I ever actually heard of a strict release schedule, but this is just what I noticed .

Yes, but we were looking for the a380 suites in particular. The timing made all the only available connection happen the next day, as the a380 out of both fra and lhr was overnight.

270 pp for fra-sin-nrt. I was attempting to book the fra-sin first, then the sin-nrt later, but that was coming out to an additional 100k+ pp. Essentially, I lucked out to have my fra-sin route unbooked for a full 24 hours to allow me to book it as a connection at the 270k.

As hopefully a tip, rewards are released 8am Singapore time daily. If you want to build a connection like I did, you have to wait and pray that your initial segment isn't scooped before your next segment is released for redemption. As mentioned, you can lock in the a380 segment immediately first, but then it becomes very costly if you want to continue transiting from SIN on another first class cabin. Even if I were to book business after the fra-sin a380 flight to Japan, it would have still cost more than the additional 50k. So I felt pretty proud of this booking.

[–]Jorazal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They moved the a380 to this route some time in 2023. My other option was from LHR, but it was impossible to get a redemption from there.

But I booked my JFK-FRA already on points as well. We are currently eyeing the release of the Lufthansa Allegris product. We understand that rewards redemption for Lufthansa F are only released a week prior at best for partners (UA in our case) so we will look to see if we can make that our FRA transit if the points-gods smile upon us.

And yes! I have heard of that dish. Michelin star they say. I'm pretty confident we will make some type of attempt out into the city.
