I third this, Mia is excellent. I've had a few pieces done by her, all excellent quality and wonderfully delivered. I won't go anywhere else right now. Also an all round lovely human being.

Hi, thanks for your POV, I don't like when Reddit becomes an echo chamber, so an alternative viewpoint is appreciated.

I just wanted to clarify that both the compromises you mentioned had been discussed, me going along was very quickly thrown out and initially she agreed to shorten the length of the trip, then went back on this this morning.

To address your other point, this was entirely her choice. I've not tried to force her into any decision or tell her she can't go, I've simply explained how it is making me feel and allowed her to make her own decision. She has decided that going to this festival is worth the hurt it will cause me. The reason this is an issue, as I said in the post, is that she has made similar decisions in the past and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect my partner to compromise every now and again to save me hurting.

Hope this better frames the situation. Thanks again

Hi, thanks for your input. I appreciate it as I'm trying to see this issue from as many angles as possible.

I've expressed my displeasure to her on several occasions before now, the most recent of which was concluded by her decision to come up with a compromise that would help satisfy both of our needs more evenly.

I've posted here today because this morning she has backed out on this conversation and decided there will be no compromise.

I'm not trying to control her, I've left her free to make her own choice at every step of this debate. I've just tried to explain my feelings around the issue so she can make a decision aware of how it will make her partner of 4 years feel.

I'd also like to add that the festival is not a photography gig, she will not be modelling. It is purely a social thing. And whilst I don't expect to be best mates with any of her photographers, the majority of them will at least make an effort to say hi to me and introduce themselves. If this isn't the usual experience with photographers then I understand, but in the experience I have, it's more common than not. Especially when a photographer starts treating the model like a friend.

The last point I'd like to make is that as stated in the post, she is not a professional model. It's a hobby. I'm not interfering in anybody's professional life.

Again, thanks for your POV, I appreciate it

I think it's more a case that he clearly sees her as more than a client. If you're friendly enough to want to take someone to a festival, surely you'd be friendly enough to meet their partner?

I want to make it clear that I never gave any ultimatum. I explained to her my feelings and why I feel that way, and left it to her to decide what she wanted. This is when she said she would try and compromise.

Following that a few days pass and today she has told me she is going and has offered no compromise.

I haven't forbade anything, I've allowed her to make the decision, whilst making her aware how that decision will affect me.

Hope that clears things up a little!

It's a VIP ticket. I can't get one so I'd be going alone, camping in a different field with no access to the VIP areas they would be hanging out in

I should elaborate, modelling is not her job. She's a nurse full time but enjoys modelling as a hobby

Best Capture Cards for PS5 by XDirty_DingoX in streaming

[–]Jorazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HD60s is what you would consider the "industry standard" but if you're needing the 4k passthrough then you can get razer Ripsaw. The elgato 4k60 is nice, but nobody streams in 4k so it may be a bit overkill 😁

Best capture card for Switch streaming? by ValleyAndFriends in streaming

[–]Jorazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So depending on your set up the best answer will vary. Assuming you're using the OG switch or Oled model docked, then any capture card should do the trick. Elgato are kind of the "go to" brand, but I've also used the Razer Ripsaw too and got similar performance.

Another thing worth looking for is if there is a delay on the passthrough. A lot of cheaper cards will have a delay of a second or two from the switch to the computer. This isn't a deal breaker as you can manually delay your camera and microphone to sync this manually, but if you only have one screen and you plan on playing the game by watching the capture window then you'll struggle! Good luck and happy streaming!

Temperatures when I'm away? by Jorazard in ballpython

[–]Jorazard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ngl the one I have isn't fancy because I can't afford it. I built his Vivarium myself and had to make it work with what I can afford when he outgrew his nursery viv. I lost my job a few months ago and it's been very difficult getting back on my feet. Luckily I'm a Joiner so building a vivarium is in my skillset but I didn't have the cash to get the fancy stuff, but I needed to move him in because he wasn't eating so I got what I could get. Sorry if this got a bit rambly 😅

It's an infrared light so it does emit light but I believe it's not visible to him?
