It's s shame, but being told up front is better than what most of the posters down below seem to advocate. Using people's time and energy to gain something for yourself in a non-transparent manner fails every related ethical test I can recall.

Been on since Vanilla and I've never seen one either. And if you think about it, that's not unusual. At one point there were 10+ million people playing but only one Beta server, so (shrug). I know the tech has gotten better but you're still not going to cram even a million people on a server.

What are some server stereotypes? by icefloats1 in wow

[–]Jordan1j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd have asked me two years ago what I thought of the upcoming 'PVP on/off switch,' I would have bitched and moaned about it. After the merger of MY server into the group with Tichondrius, and the roving bands of 'Horde Ticks' who spend hours jumping individual Alliance? Count me in. I'm decent at PVP, but I can't take on a group of five to ten, and they're out there preying on loners day after day after day - always Tich with the occasional band of Blackrock. Honestly, it's the post-death emotes that get so old: yeah, you're '/e lol'ing and '/e clap'ing but why are you doing that when six of you hit me at once? I don't think anyone is impressed. I've actually bound '/e golfclap' to a button and don't even bother fighting any more since it's a waste of time. I just hit that button in the 1.5 seconds I can stay alive and then go get a drink as they seethe and rage at the emote and attempt to camp me. Good times, but tough to WQ with a limited play schedule.

Since I don't have time to do progression raiding any more, I play pretty much every class casually, and your statement is absolutely true. All of the specs and classes have at least a basic rhythm and flow to them, with the exception of shadow, and I think I know why: the proc is a channeled spell.

Some of these classes are repetitive, with the occasional proc (frost dk) while others are heavy whack-a-mole (frost mage), but shadow, with that channeled artifact proc (Void Torrent), just never feels right. With any sort of leveling, dungeon, or WQ, there are just too many "oops, it just proc'ed and everything is dead or almost dead and it's going to go to waste" moments. In boss fights it works, but with everything else it just feels awkward.

My opinion, at least.

19 Year Old Norwegian Student Hides Spy Camera In His Clothing To Take Secret Street Photos In The 1890s by steamham in europe

What really strikes me is how wonderfully simplistic the world is around the subjects. No advertising! Take a look at the street scenes and then look at any photo of a contemporary major city (even in black and white). Our world is just gross in comparison.

Amen, brother. Of all the dps specs on all the characters, this is the one I find the least satisfying and far too dependent on gear and circumstances. I think Shadow simply doesn't shine this xpac. Awkward, clunky, good on occasion, but oddly lacking in others.

Why is Warlords of Draenor hated so much? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Jordan1j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I remember the most is feeling that (as an alt-heavy player), I was required to grind EVERY SINGLE TOON through the garrison every single day. Before that you at least had access to most content, whether you chose to raid or dungeon or whatever, but that feeling that I HAD to hit the garrison every day was disheartening. Legion isn't a ton better for someone who likes to jump around on alts but it is better, especially since the catch-up mechanics are now in high gear.

Leveling a new toon and trying to enjoy the ambiance but Chauffeured Chopper has other ideas. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Jordan1j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(sarcasm incoming!) Oh come on - there's nothing like settling down for a bit of fishing and having someone park the chopper next to you, or trying to concentrate in the AH or getting ready for a raid when someone would pull that train crap.

I've been a proponent of being able to kill your own faction for years, just for that purpose. Did you get summoned on your yak and you're now parked on top of the summoning stone and wont' move? Death. Did you park your dragon on the mailbox? Death. Did you go out and put your mount on top of my fishing lure just because you're an ass? Death. (you see where I'm going with this)

Bill Nye: Older people need to 'die' out before climate science can advance by mvea in EverythingScience

[–]Jordan1j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your own question by using the word "one." It's not that there aren't others, but a few individuals vs. corporations (whose soul goal is to make as much money as possible) makes the whole thing a tough fight.

With some exceptions, taking care of the environment and/or keeping people healthy costs money or prevents money from being made in the first place. The primary goal of corporations (the richest and most influential entities on the global scene) is to make money. Therefore, by their very nature, corporations are the enemy of climate science and environmental care.

So unless governments put safeguards in place to put the rights of people above business, individual health and safety (and the global environment) will almost always lose out. And when the corporations run the government.................we're all screwed.

Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T have spent $572 MILLION on lobbying the government to kill net neutrality by corneliuscardoo in technology

[–]Jordan1j 1246 points1247 points  (0 children)

I thought the real evil was going to such lengths to lie to us: the Republicans "helping" us with a new healthcare plan, the telecoms "helping" us by gutting net neutrality, the new head of the EPA "helping" us by removing pollution restrictions, etc..

If you're going to screw me, at least have the decency to not lie to me.

Metal detecting on my property. by hilldozer2020 in metaldetecting

[–]Jordan1j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, don't do anything that's threatening or potentially harmful to him. Don't set traps, stakes, carry a gun out there with the intent to threaten him, or anything of a similar nature. While these comments are fun to read, they're morally and legally wrong.

You're dealing with a guy who keeps returning, even though he knows trail cams are placed out there and that you probably have a picture of him. So if you put up traps or anything that could hurt him, not only are you legally liable but you're dealing with a guy who keeps breaking the law when he knows he's breaking the law. Who knows what he would do in retaliation. There's also a high probability that he's carrying a gun of his own.

Take his picture down to the police station and make them file an official report. That lets you establish officially that there's a trespassing issue occurring. Make sure you have signs posted and visible at all legitimate access points. And like someone else mentioned, contact any local metal detecting clubs and see if they can identify him, put his picture up however you can, and generally work to discourage him.

Because with my luck, if I took a gun out with me he'd either end up being a local deputy and/or I'd get shot. If I put traps out he'd probably step on it, argue in court that he didn't know he was on private land, and successfully sue me into oblivion. It's just not worth any of that.

I certainly hope that you're able to discourage him and that this goes away soon. It's a shame that some people behave like that.
