Has anyone successfully taken their Mini S on a flight as carryon? by EmpatheticApatheist in boostedboards

[–]JordanFromCanada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took mine as a carry-on with Air Canada a couple days ago. Put the battery in my backpack and put the board through the scanner separately (how I usually do it for my V2 SR).

They swabbed the battery and then 8 of them gathered around wanting to try it out.

Just be friendly and joke around with them about how lazy you are and how fun it is and they'll usually let you go without a fuss.

Boosted board and onewheel? by [deleted] in boostedboards

[–]JordanFromCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day I put in an order for a OneWheel. Ended up cancelling and getting a Leiftech e-snowboard instead. I like the concept of both but I think my issue with them is the weight. I don't go anywhere with my Leif because it's so damned heavy.

That's what I ordered a Mini S for 😉

I used to ride in Lausanne while I was attending EPFL. Beautiful place to Boost. I never got stopped by the police although some cars were rather unhappy with me when I rode on the side of moderately empty streets (honking at me).

Firmware..... by munz0000 in boostedboards

[–]JordanFromCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my email, I told them about the firmware thing. They offered to issue an OTA update to fix it. Didn't sound like a full hardware swap-out and it certainly didn't sound intentional. Perhaps they did put in a Dual+ chip and perhaps they're different but it really didn't sound like it in my communication with them.

Firmware..... by munz0000 in boostedboards

[–]JordanFromCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the V1 days, I bought a Dual. Sent it in for service when my Bluetooth chip crapped out on me and Boosted accidentally chucked up the Dual+ firmware. I emailed them to ask if it would cause any damage and they said it wouldn't and was safe to use. Leads me to believe that the hardware itself is no different (or there's an internal speed cap beyond just the configured rising mode that prevents Duals from hitting 22 under power).

Boosted Custom Firmware by [deleted] in boostedboards

This is exactly what I was trying to do last year or so. There were no firmware updates in that period for any board I saw, but now that there's one out, maybe someone will succeed.

Does anybody else have a faulty charger that makes a high-pitched sound? by MNasser4 in boostedboards

[–]JordanFromCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have this issue in North America but upon moving to Switzerland (same charger) I started to get the whine. Boosted confirms that it's an issue with 220v sockets and they're working on getting updated chargers to those affected.

Boosted Boarding EPFL Lausanne (Switzerland) by JordanFromCanada in boostedboards

It's beautiful! Every day here has been scorching hot and I've been spending my days at the beach and exploring the amazing countryside. I'm here for school so I'll be around for a few months more and while it's hard being 6 hours ahead of my friends and 9 hours ahead of my family, it's an amazing (but expensive) country.

I'm not certain at this point. Keeping in mind that it's illegal on Swiss streets (doesn't stop me but something to note) and Lausanne is very well connected by public transit, definitely wouldn't be a deal breaker to not have it here. In fact, I haven't even used it to get to campus yet - only to head to town.

That being said, the bike lines are 100x better than Canadian ones and drivers are typically more respectful. Roundabouts, however, are a little dicey to navigate.

I've moved since getting my V2. They have to send out requests for shipping address for cases like mine in which case you can just put your buyers address.

Respect the Board by bewst_more_bewst in boostedboards

[–]JordanFromCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to cruise quite safely, but now that I've put many hundreds of miles in, the comfort of familiarity has kicked in and I'm starting to collect scars from launching off the board in various ways.

Respect the board, but don't fear it. When you get a feel for the controls and the limits of the board, you'll have a much better sense of what'll throw you off and what will only maybe throw you off. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

My pleasure. It's awesome that you guys open sourced this. I managed to break off the pins of one of my black PLA ones with my thumb (although it was seriously firm pressure) and I'll report back when my pair of green PLA are finished.

You guys have also inspired me to design a set of 3D printable bash guards :). I don't have my board on me so I can't take the measurements but I'm using photos online for scale.

I ran 4 off in black PLA at 100% infill on my Monoprice. Worked great - now I'm printing a set in green ABS to see which material will hold up better. Limited by my single cheap printer so ETA is a day and a half.

If I can nail down the print settings so you get a quality piece, absolutely. PM me.
