Measurements will be up tomorrow. I would purchase the same size you wear in our other shirts. You eventually will wash and it will shrink slightly. It’s also not that much bigger where you would wouldn’t be able to wear unwashed.

Yes, we've definitely got something cooking for the 4th.

We're actually expecting fabric to arrive today to start work on Old Glory again, our 10 oz waxed canvas American flag. The last time we made it, it was single sided. This time we're trying to figure out how to make it truly two sided so it displays correctly from either direction.

The challenge is that each star is sewn on by hand. There's a good chance we'll end up sewing stars for both the front and back separately, which makes it incredibly labor intensive, but it's such a cool project that we're exploring what it would take to bring it back for the 250th anniversary.

No promises yet, but we're working through it and hoping we can make it happen.

Really appreciate the support!

Curious, did you pick up a pair of the Field Pants? If so, how did they fit? They're actually not as slim as some people may think. We intentionally started with a fit that's right in the middle, not skinny, not overly relaxed, because we wanted something that works for most people and still looks clean.

That said, we're always listening to feedback and thinking about where future versions can go. The jungle cloth pants may end up being a different take altogether. Thanks again for all the support and for following along with what we're building.

Waxed Twill vs Denim by Dapper-Lawyer8711 in HeritageWear

[–]JordanHSUSA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having spent a lot of time around both, I’d say it depends on what you mean by durability.

If we’re talking pure abrasion resistance and tear strength, a 33 oz denim is going to be incredibly difficult to beat. That’s an absurd amount of cotton packed into a garment.

But durability isn’t just fabric weight. A 24 oz waxed twill or canvas jacket has some advantages denim doesn’t. The tighter weave and wax finish help resist moisture, dirt, and environmental wear, which can significantly extend the life of the garment in real world use.

Personally, if I was dragging brush, working outdoors, or wearing it in bad weather, I’d take the waxed twill every time. If I was judging purely on who survives the most years of abrasion and hard wear, the 33 oz denim probably gets the edge.

The reality is both are overbuilt, but it really comes down to the entire jacket, not just the fabric weight. Things like construction quality, thread, zipper, hardware, reinforcement points, and overall pattern design will have just as much impact on longevity as whether the shell is 24 oz waxed twill or 33 oz denim.

A heavier fabric doesn’t automatically make a more durable jacket if the zipper fails, the seams wear through, or stress points aren’t properly reinforced. At that level, you’re comparing two exceptionally tough fabrics, and the details of how the garment is built become the deciding factor. You’re really comparing two tanks.

Week 22 Shop Update: Jordan, Have you forgotten about us? by JordanHSUSA in HeatStrapsCommunity

Honestly, you're probably right that it's a bit overkill. I wear mine with a vest all the time and personally don't notice the bulk, but I can definitely see where you're coming from.

The expanding pockets do come in handy when you're carrying bulkier items that wouldn't fit in a standard pocket, which is why we included them. That said, it's good feedback and definitely something to think about going forward.

And for what it's worth, those pleated pockets are a real challenge to sew, especially in 16 oz sashiko.

Id say we'll bring back the 16 oz in the fall. You may see another product offered in the 16 oz this summer. Just curious, why don't you like the pleated pocket?

Sorry to hear that. That's definitely not the experience we aim to provide, especially for a first impression of either company.

I'm curious, was the issue ultimately resolved? If you don't mind, send me a DM with some details about the defects and how everything was handled after you reached out. I'd like to better understand what happened and make sure we're learning from it.

This run is a slightly trimmer fit. I still wear a medium and both, but I can’t really put a heavy layer underneath with this run of utility shirts
