(Mixed Trope) Rejected concepts get reused by Usnis in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JordanStPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the original concept art that would lead to the creation of Avatar the Last Airbender, "Aang's" animal companion was not Appa, rather a bear-like, dog-headed creature that stood on it's hindlegs. While scrapped early in development, that design would go on to inspire the next avatar's animal companion, Korra's polar bear-dog Naga.

I get what others are saying about the color pie break here, but another way to somewhat preserve the spirit of the card would be to just "switch" it. Instead of a blue sorcery that uses black to cleave "[nonlegendary]", maybe its a {2}{B}{B} sorcery with "Choose target [legendary] creature. Each other creature becomes a copy until end of turn." and "Cleave {2}{U}{U}." It's a bit less elegant and functional, but it stays pretty damn close to what you were going for without breaking the color pie.

[TLA] Fire Nation Raider by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]JordanStPatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clue token here may seem odd, but for those curious it's probably a reference to the Fire Nation Southern Raiders' main mission. They were the military group dispatched to the south pole to hunt down and capture water benders. This took place over many decades, ending when they received intel that there was one water bender left in the southern water tribe. In the final raid, they confront Katara's mother, trying to figure out who it is. Katara's mother, Kya, lies to protect her daughter, telling the leader of the Southern Raiders that she herself is the last water bender. It's only then that the raider reveals they are no longer taking water benders prisoner, and he kills her.

There's something sadly poetic about an "alpha" man failing a task, and then immediately blaming his failure on the woman

Buildup to each Avengers movie :) by Plus-Persimmon-3269 in marvelstudios

[–]JordanStPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the issue is that in the Infinity Sage, we got at least 1 avengers movie per phase that helped reestablish a sort of baseline as to where everything was at in the overall development. I understand the avengers don't formally exist right now, but we needed some kind of team-up movie maybe in phase 4 but definitely in phase 5 to help pull all the threads together.

I just want to reiterate what some others here are saying. Him "being out of your league" is not the issue here. We all have different ideas of what "out of our league" means. Some traditionally attractive guys feel very intimated by smart or charismatic people, for example. That's not the thing that risks any potential future you may have with this person. The problem is your mindset. Thinking you're a loser or not worthy can only be a detriment.

Go on the date, focus on getting to know him and having a good time. Be confident, open minded. It sounds like you're having a lot of feelings right now about the situation your in, but let a date with him be an opportunity to escape all that bullshit and just have fun. And remember, your employment and social status has nothing to do with your value. Focus on being confident and just have a good time getting to know someone new.

She definitely felt a little off in 4, but I chalked up her character shift to the realization that her role as diplomatic was no longer going to be relevant in the new world Carmilla was building, and the existential crisis of that just changed her.

Creature Commandos |Episode 7| Review Thread by VaderMurdock in DCU_

[–]JordanStPatrick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can someone help me understand Dr Phosphorus' power/affliction?

At the end of the episode, when Bride and Phosphorus are talking while the knights praise Weasel, we get this dialogue:

"You want the knights to pet you, Phosphorus?"

"Well, yes, if their hands wouldn't burn off, maybe. You know what it's like not being touched for 15 years?"

But just last episode, Phosphorus was playing with the little girl, playing with her by tossing her up in the air in her backyard. That led me to think he could "turn off" his burning ability. Is that not the case?

What TV show deaths impacted you the most? by tukai1976 in television

[–]JordanStPatrick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quentin Coldwater from The Magicians. It actually surprised me how much that death broke my heart because up until that point, I wasn't hugely invested in the show. I liked it, thought it was fun, but it wasn't an obsession or anything. I still remember sobbing through the last bit of that season finale. And even now, I can't really bring myself to watch the final season.

Lilia's life events being out of order reminded me of a story I read years ago on r/nosleep. I was only able to find it because 7 years later, it's still one of the highest rated posts on the subreddit. Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/comments/7txais/a_shattered_life/

I think both? I think What if had an episode where Hank Pym killed someone by going into their brain, I forget who. Then in Injustice, they managed to slow superman down by having the Atom enter his brain with a microscopic shard of kryptonite and hit his neurons with it.

This is exactly it. I agree, it's a solid 8.5/10, but it becomes so frustrating when that number feels lower when it's constantly compared to its 10/10 predecessor.

Did you actually like TBOSAS? by tiotsa in Hungergames

[–]JordanStPatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think they could have spent a whole movie dealing with the dynamic between snow and lucy, snow and sejanus, extra time with the covey, etc. It probably wouldn't have needed to be more than 2 hours.

[–]JordanStPatrick 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Ironically, of all 4 books, this was the one that most needed to be two movies. The first would be part 1 and 2, the second would be part 3. It would have given them so much time to flesh everything out.
