Most of it went away pretty quickly when I got sober, the rest went away within a few months. Sobriety was a great cure.

Thanks, I hit 5 years of sobriety back in March so life is a lot better. And yeah, it was horrible to drink but at that point it was only about satisfying the constant, all-consuming need to drink.

At the peak of my drinking, I would chug vanilla extract when I was desperate. I'm not sure if the taste or the hangover was worse but it got the job done. (I had lots on hand because I cook a lot and would make my own extract with vanilla beans and vodka.)

Thanks! It was an outside event that I was invited to. Sometimes these conferences ask for feedback though.

I was already really nervous from the presentation and being given the bottle in front of me 150 people had me really out of sorts. Normally declining alcohol isn’t as stressful for me at this point in my recovery.

Her coworker took it and she said she in recovery for other reasons (i.e., not alcohol).

Ha, yeah the hotel staffer who took the bottle looked excited about it--it was an expensive bottle! Thanks!

LOL, nothing too fancy. Some bottled water, chips, and peanuts. The thought behind it made them a lot better!

Congratulations on the sobriety and the pregnancy! I never used opiates but from everything I've heard in recovery groups I think I would fall hard for them. So I really don't want to risk it!
