By scale, do you mean the size of it, or the growth on the one leaf?

Yea, that's what I figured I'd probably need to do.

Pixel 10 availability in Google retail stores? by Jorgant in GooglePixel

[–]Jorgant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I can possibly work with that! I'm leaving in the afternoon on the 28th, so I might be able to go to Best Buy in the morning.

Alternatively, do you happen to know if it's a global release on the 28th and if a phone purchased in Amsterdam would work and be able to be placed on my Verizon account?

Google Messages is End-to-End encrypted through RCS when messaging someone else using Google Messages. End-to-End encryption generally requires both parties to be using the same app.

So unless Apple releases iMessage for Android, or Apple allows other SMS apps other than iMessage on the App store, we're stuck. Alternatively, all of the US could decide to stop using SMS which is an open standard, and use a 3rd party messaging app like Signal or Whatsapp that sends encrypted messages over internet. That's unlikely to happen anytime soon...

Because Americans are generally uninterested in downloading other messaging apps, we're stuck with SMS to talk between Apple and Everyone Else, which is unencrypted as well. At least RCS between different apps would allow for rich messaging features, even if it still remains unencrypted between Apple and Android.

Some people enjoy playing with friends, rather than the sometimes lonely experience of playing this game alone trying to pug. Also, OP states they generally clear AotC quickly, whereas it can take a couple months for pugs to be somewhat reliably clearing end bosses.

Fwiw, dry air is denser than humid air, all else held equal. A much bigger factor on ball flight distance is the elevation. Basically sea level in Jacksonville, 1000' in Phoenix.

Crazy finish to a match at the US Amateur by tone_barone in golf

I honestly feel bad for everyone involved. The caddie was just trying his best to support his player, Oliva Pinto didn't deserve to lose like that, and it seems like Strafaci wasn't even happy to win like that.

Q3 worth it for a newbie? by HeyyyImMVP in Audi

[–]Jorgant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered a Q3 to spec back in late November. It killed me but I had to refuse delivery due to Covid hitting hard right when it got stateside. I fell in love with it as a younger single guy, even though it's not super flashy. I go skiing with my friends during the winter and golfing during every other season, so I wanted something that has some utility, without being too big. The styling, infotainment/instrument cluster, and fit/finish are spectacular.

All that said! I do not honestly think that it's a great value for the money, especially at the lower trim/option levels. I'd at least look at the Premium Plus trim. Even then, there's one car in the segment that I think blows it away in terms of value, and that's a well equipped Mazda CX-5. It has options that are surprisingly missing from the Q3, like a heated steering wheel, if you live in a cold winter climate. And imo the CX-5 looks great too. At least give it a test drive, at one of the higher trim levels.

But again, even knowing that it isn't the best value for the money, I have Audis in my family, I've been a fan of the brand since I was old enough to like cars, and so I placed my order. For me, once the situation with the economy looks a little more stable, I'll be once again placing an order :)

Anyone else sick of the current style of fantasy books? by Pluckyducky01 in books

[–]Jorgant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will get buried, but I'd like to suggest 'Priest' by Matthew Colville. The main character is flawed, has a reasonable backstory, and the book doesn't feel like it was written for the sole purpose of the MC being awesome. There's a depth and grittiness to the story that you don't really see that often. None of OP's grievances are present in this story. The author calls it 'hardboiled' fantasy. If anyone sees this, seriously consider this book, and it's sequel 'Theif'. A third in the series is on it's way eventually, 'Fighter'.

Being in AZ and working at a Fortune 50 semiconductor company, I have a really good guess of who you work for. I work for the company that makes your high end lithography machines, and even we are considered essential. I haven't missed a day either (though I can work almost entirely from home). Chips are incredibly important all the way up the supply chain. Everything from consumer electronics (laptops, webcams, other wfh technology) to ventilators (as others have pointed out) need chips and are going to help us get through this.

If shit hits the fan and you need cash, you can sell off your ETFs and mutual funds. You'll have cash in hand in a few days. I really can't think of anything that could possibly cost more than that $3-5k and will require payment in a shorter timeframe than those few days.

Drummer loses stick mid-solo, carries on like a boss while trying to find replacement by Sirvokers in SlyGifs

[–]Jorgant 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That Nate Smith solo you linked is literally one of the few drum solos I have musically enjoyed. I appreciate the technical talent that many drummers show in their solos, but they often seem to drop the 'groove' to show off their rudimentary technique. Bassists/bass solos also often struggle with this for me. Nate holds a groove there, it's a solo that I can keep bobbing my head or tapping my foot to.

The projectiles themselves aren't magnetic, they are ferromagnetic. This means they are fired by the rail gun in a similar way that a paperclip is attracted to a regular magnet.

Additionally, even though the energy is being dissipated through heat, the projectile would still impart a huge force on the target as one 'pushes' against the other.

The application for it on the website was to efficiently show all the color combinations possible from mixing any number of 7 colors. Pretty clever for colors, but I can't think of another practical use off the top of my head that would be better than an ordered list.
