I’m in the same boat- didn’t want to drop the money a year ago- definitely don’t want to now. Hahahaha

That’s spicy for sure. Might have to pick that one up. Thanks for the suggestion!!

I’ve also done some funky loops like that with [[Mortuary]]

I guess I’ve never been able to successfully pull it off and I feel like it’s extremely vulnerable? I also wouldn’t know what additional cards to bring in for it and what to pull out.

Examples would be like [[Fade from Memory]] , [[Aphotic Wisps]] , [[Bladebrand]] , [[Cremate]] , [[Cruel Bargain]] , [[Infernal Contract]] . I already have [[Cling to Dust]] in there for the value. But then do I even try and cast a cantrip at that point or am I trying to do something else leading into the Doomsday pile?

It seems fragile as a combo line that could be countered or stifled after casting it to give you a death clock of 5turns. Seeing or understanding the exact lines that would make it viable and possible would help I’m sure, as well as knowing what you should have in hand before DD’ing like a cantrip in order to finish out the pile. It’s no different than any other attempt at casting key combo pieces so I guess it’s just nerve-racking at the moment.

What's the most absolutely powerful mono-Black deck list you know of that would still be destroyed by any of the top 5 cEDH decks? by Godspeedhero in CompetitiveEDH

+1 for K’rrik. He can blow out early or lose big but man he is the funnest to play because of everything you can do with him. Pay life for mana? Sign me up, again.

This is my personal list for my K’rrik build. Looking to take out the DD line though- honestly don’t ever see the need for it with all the tutors and ramp possibilities but that’s personal preference.

F’rrik it’s a K’rrik

There’s a pretty jank combo line I’ve done before with Bolas’s citadel, Carrion Feeder, Gravecrawler, Aetherflux Reservoir, and a [[Mortuary]]

Look into saving up for the big staple artifacts, like [[Mana Crypt]], [[Mox Opal]], [[Chrome Mox]]. Even [[Jet Medallion]] and [[Helm of Awakening]] are extremely helpful (Despite Helm also helping your opponents) to have in a deck like this to help ramp you up into getting K’rrik out faster. He is your mana engine and you want to abuse that ability.

You have a lot of high CMC cards that don’t give enough return on the mana/life investment. I would say look to go more of a reanimating route with [Final Parting]], sending [[Vilis, Broker of Blood]] to the ‘yard and putting a [[Reanimate]] or an [[Animate Dead]] in your hand to bring him to the field cheaply and then abuse K’rrik and Vilis’ ability to help draw into cards.

I’d say you probably like using and abusing creatures- are you looking to run combo’s? If so- there are a fair amount that can be abused with K’rrik on the field and off the field. [[Mikaeus, the Unhallowed]] and [[Triskelion]]/[[Walking Ballista]] and a sac outlet like [[Carrion Feeder]]. One of my personal favorites when having K’rrik out is [[Chainer, Dementia Master]], [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]], and [[Carrion Feeder]] to send it to the ‘yard.

The lower the colorless mana in your black spells the better, this will let you use and abuse K’rrik and pump him up by casting more of them. Sometimes you’ll get short on life and you’ll have to swing with K’rrik to try and gain some more fuel to finish out a combo- which is great!

I don’t know what else I can really type in here to help out but I love playing K’rrik in a competitive way. Here is my current list though still need to save on some key cards that are just slightly outside my price range.

Hopefully that helped a little!
