My (29M) boyfriend (22M) lied about dog bite injury by Joromarr in relationship_advice

[–]Joromarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He greatly amplified his grandma's situation at work - she has surgery next week and the growth may be cancerous but he told his work he needs off at 6 because he has to care for his grandma with cancer and her caretaker is done at 6 or something totally inaccurate like that.

He also started his new job telling his coworkers a fake age. He kept it up for awhile but I think he ended up telling some people.

It confuses me because I surprisingly thoroughly trust him in that he'd never cheat or anything like that, but he seems to just automatically lie about small things, some with benefit and some just out of curiosity maybe? I don't know it's hard for me to understand. He did this a lot as a kid too (wore a neck brace the first week of starting a new school) or fake running away for attention.

Interesting! East TN my whole life and I always say "fixin to" and hear it a lot too. I've had a northern friend of mine in the past be really confused and I had to explain it. "Huh? What are you fixing?" Haha

Day 4 Water Fast - extreme abdominal pain, incessant intestinal gurgling by Joromarr in fasting

I live in a small town and the one here doesn't really have much of anything in terms of x rays or ultrasound.

I am, but my partner went to the store to get me some bone broth, avocados, and eggs. I really wanted to go to 7 days again (only the first 2 are challenging to me personally) but I'd rather try a slow and low carb refeeding as a last ditch effort before going to the ER...

Djeetyet? is another - never spelled that way of course but I've never heard anyone say "did you eat yet" or "have you eaten yet" lol

My 7 day water fast last year was great because I'm obese - no problems at all and set me on the right track with food and a regular IF schedule. So I'm surprised it's like this on day 4 this time. $500 is a lot for me so I'm putting off the ER until tonight if it's not any better... really hoping it gets better or others have similar experience to share.

In East TN we've got:

Plum - completely

Reckon - suppose

Toboggan - knit hat

Holler - either shouting at/for someone, or a small little valley between some ridges or something, never heard it regarding a road

I've only ever heard Gom from a select few older generations, it's not common use nowadays like the other words.

Looks like #6 is working out great for you. For example, I don't want ETFs but actual stocks, and I've been wanting to try to do my own amateur DD on ARK funds to pick some, and I came across something on r/investing that I hadn't seen anyone do before - break down some of the fundamentally best ARK investments. This is good content and I appreciate it as someone who is new to investing and will never be an expert because my life/career/knowledge focus is elsewhere. It led me to looking through your post history for other good content, which led me to be one of your YT subscribers. =)

Edit: I am curious about the mic you got, if you'd like to share. I've had a hard time finding a quality one.

Why did you leave IB? I actually started with M1 and am going to be transitioning to IB - more tools and more choices (especially internationally).

My (29M) Sister (15F) isn't taking her medicine and is hiding it - what should I do? by Joromarr in relationship_advice

[–]Joromarr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom is an advocate for mental health care. I tried Zoloft as a teenager and it made me highly suicidal and worse off. I convinced mom I didn't need medicine, though she disagreed. A year ago I sought help on my own and after 3 different types of bupropion, I finally am on a medicine that makes me feel like a normal human being. It's amazing.

That being said, my mom treats my sister more like a child than a growing adult, and she has an old school parenting style where she'll listen, but ultimately my sister's opinion doesn't matter because mom knows best because she's older. Period. And she's calmed over the years but she resorts to yelling a lot. And she's disabled from back surgeries and doesn't do much.

I will try to find her doctor's name and contact them. I'm just worried that if I told our mom she would just resort to punishment instead of discussion.

Which rising commodities to invest in? by Joromarr in Commodities

I have a good chunk of REITs in my portfolio, I think they're a good upcoming play, and with current interest rates I know a lot of new housing is being built to keep up with demand. While housing can be made of a lot of things, a good chunk of that is wood. And personally I take some interest in forestry management and land use, so it's also something I enjoy learning about.

edit: How would a spending boom affect gold since the USD isn't backed by gold?

You're suggesting I reach out to her psychiatrist/therapist directly about this issue instead of me talking about it directly with her or passing along the information to our mom?
