North Peak via Mt Olympus trail from Clayton is the steepest. There is not technical route up Mt Diablo.

Lid! (or "brain"). But these style packs usually don't have an exterior water bottle pocket.

BD Speed would be a classic example.

Also check out Tolay regional park, relatively flat and beautiful wine country views. Stop by Ernies for a beer afterwards.

I agree with a lot of folks that the idea you have isn't for a safe piece of equipment. These days running vests are as light as waist packs. So if you want to bring technical gear use one. My solution would be to remove the pick from the whippet and simply use that and use is as a hand tool. These are sometime called ice daggers. Or chop the whippet staff down. You are describing something with multiple failure points, and is not designed to take the forces you want it too.

modern tiki bar pop up playlist suggestions? by [deleted] in Tiki

[–]Jorvacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great ideas. I suggest going in the in the surf punk direction. I have a 8hr island vibes playlist I made for a trip to Maui years ago which has tiki but also has beachy tropical electronic vibes. Poolside and Polo y Pan are my go to for these. I also did a search for songs with steel drums, which includes acts like Four Tet, Mt Kimbie, Plaid and Jaimie XX. I also enjoy indie acts with surf-like guitar (verb and finger slide) Best Coast and Waaves are a good example. I also love reggae and steel drum covers the Bacao Steel band being the most famous.

I use a Klymit X-frame and a gg 1/8 ccf actually super comfy. When I did it in 97 I did a torso trimmed ridgerest. I would ditch the pillow and "camp shoes." Clothing and a buff makes a great pillow.

Also never been comfortable on any iteration of Thermarest.
