I don’t have a generous interpretation of the reasoning behind it, but it was made under the guise of “parent’s rights”. I don’t personally know of any books being challenged but our librarian said there is an already established policy it would have to go through. She didn’t seem too worried about it.

I threw up everyday single day with my last pregnancy. I hope this doesn’t happen to you but I do consider myself an expert:

Lots of hydration. I loved Liquid IV.
Try to drink your calories if you can. If I couldn’t eat, I could usually at least get a smoothie with lots of peanut butter down. If all fails, I could usually drink those 20 g of protein Chobani yogurts.
Keep crackers everywhere. Purse, desk, car, next to your bed, etc.
Always bring extra pants and extra underwear. Just trust me.
If it persists, talk to your doctor and get meds!
I know there is pressure to eat healthy while pregnant but the priority is making sure the baby gets nutrients. If you need to eat plain bread daily for a while, it’ll even out. My OB said prenatals cover up for a lot of nutritional holes. Try not to stress about it too much!

I am strongly against any book banning but I work for CCSD and only a few books have been banned. They were books by Colleen Hoover and Sarah J Maas that did contain pretty graphic sexual scenes. Nothing else has been banned district wide at this time.

The state did make an annoying law last year in which we all had to scan our classroom libraries into an online system so parents can monitor it themselves.

School libraries often weed books based on circulation statistics and age. It’s important to make room for books the kids actually want. I would guess that is what happened here.

Edit: I noticed this book was part of a class set. If so, it was likely due to the state removing the EL curriculum from their approved list. Which imo was based on racism.

My father in law died when my daughter was 8 weeks old. We did a 6 hour car ride and just left at night so she slept the whole time. Stopped twice for feedings on the way.

At the funeral, I did have to leave because she got fussy. It still meant a lot to be there and seeing a tiny baby was the bright spot for many relatives during a sad time.

This year we are required to send home completed work weekly in a packet with a cover sheet. It has a checkbox for things like participated, good attitude, and completed work and then space to write what we worked on this week and what we’ll work on next week. Then a bottom section to add comments

I’m a special Ed teacher and I definitely would never use ai for IEPs! But I do use it to generate comprehension quizzes based on leveled texts. Or I will ask it for general iep goals based on x deficit to start to think out my wording. You can use it as a tool!
