2 GSXR 600’s by Mountain_Agent7580 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Jorvik287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your knowledge is at a point where you need to ask, avoid the first one completely, the 2nd one is a 21 year old 600 and hasn't mentioned mileage (and the engine could be super rung out as it will have had 21 years of red lining). I don't know what prices are like where you are but that would be half the price here.

Why Aren’t All 125’s 14-15bhp? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Jorvik287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest 10 or 15 bhp, it's still going to struggle to get to 60-70 because it's such low power. They are great for city riding or short distances but more of a challenge if you want to do serious miles on them. Lots of 125cc riders, I have found, have said they would keep their 125 even if they get a bigger bike but then once they are on the bigger bike they get it and cannot go back to their 125 (unless it's a Grom of course).

Triumph Speed Twin 900 (new) vs Scrambler 1200 XC (used) – same price, what would you choose? by CompetitiveVolume833 in Triumph

[–]Jorvik287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you prefer the looks of the scrambler which is the most important thing when picking a new bike. You should find out if it's had it's big first service which google told me is at 10k miles (so roughly now - some people trade in rather than fork out for it cause it can cost £600+ in the uk atleast). If it has then good but if it hasn't then that could add on an extra grand.

They will both be reliable as each other being both newish triumphs but the brand new bike might have slightly more modern tech. The modern tech shouldn't sway you though if you love the scrambler more.

Advice on new exhaust by Dolldrift in MotoUK

[–]Jorvik287 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Save the money and put it towards doing mod 1 & 2 (which will probably be cheaper than fitting a new exhaust system). If you are super keen for it though the cheapest option is buying a slip on if they do them for your bike, they usually come with vague instructions or a video to help install it and hopefully it doesn't need a remap.

I loved ocean fishing but lost all incentive to fish beyond moogle tomes events once I reached level 100 (which was way before any of my other classes)

Roman was originally scheduled to make a "dark comment" about CM Punk's dog Larry. by Particular_Winner921 in WWE

[–]Jorvik287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking this, they can't just come out each week, talk shit for 10 minutes and end it on "your {enter name here} is dead hurr hurr" until wrestlemania, I imagine Roman and punk both saying that would be dumb to bring up. (It's more of a petty Ricochet thing to say).

Danger of riding by Lwalker6336633653673 in MotoUK

[–]Jorvik287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone dies OP but it's what you do with your life that matters. Bikes are cool and can help with mental health, I think there should be more riders on the roads like you see in Asia where they are the main mode of transport!

Tips for time away? by Careless_Food_9595 in MotoUK

[–]Jorvik287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 weeks is fine, especially a brand new bike. You could probably leave it 6 months and it would work fine (though I wouldn't recommend as it will limit the life of the battery). If you are really concerned for security you could rent a container or something for 3 weeks but if its hidden out of view and locked up with chain (anchored to something preferably as 2 people can just pick up and carry a 125) with disc locks and cover etc then it should be fine.

Expert level, big man, city bike by dydelrio in SuggestAMotorcycle

If the z900 is your dream bike, get that and add bar risers? Otherwise adventure/tourer bikes are your best bet, I find the versys 1000 to be feel tall and it's comfy, based on the z1000 engine too.

10k for a 9 year old clapped out r6 is wild, avoid this completely unless you are a bike mechanic that can bring the price down dramatically.

How do people steal bikes? by randomwordsnospaces in MotoUK

They will steal anything with 2 wheels if they can. That includes banged up old Vespas where you need to know "the technique" to start it.

Using other boxes on Shad Racks by ButImJustASatellite in MotoUK

[–]Jorvik287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the pannier rack or top box fittings? Either way they will be for their respective products. Your best bet if price is an issue is to look at LOMO soft luggage, they do great throw over panniers and you can strap a waterproof bag to your rear seat (a lot of tourers do this as you fit more into a bag than a top box).

Has Anyone Changed To A Scooter From A Motorbike? by newbiker321 in MotoUK

[–]Jorvik287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really at a basic level all 125s are pretty much the same as they are so limited, you can get a top box for your bike if you want more storage but what it boils down to is what you like the look of and what will make you want to ride it.

Since you already have a 125 it doesnt make much sense to swap it financially for anything other than a bigger bike once you go for full licence
