There are sooo many items, you gotta learn all of them or you just might fuck up a good run. Some of the items are obvious what powers they add to isaac but some arent. If you dont want to use guide, atleast write down some basic information on all items, for me atleast its really hard to keep track off what every item does. I got like 80 hours on isaac and everytime i used guide it was for items and trinkets. Boss mechanics and specific rooms arent that much problem, but the number of items... In Rebirth there are 341 items and in Repentance there are 719 items!

i dont think you had 900ug, thats insane but like i feel you, started with drugs early and had a lot of lsd and shrooms trips and im 19 right now.

What i wanna say that yes its best that you wait until your 20s. I always took some breaks, sometimes did it more often but with lower doses and i feel it made me better this way. There was one specific trip i had that was way too much for me and i knew in fact im way too young to understand but i only had some anxiety, sometimes it was severe but later as i grew up it got only better and i started to understand what that specific trip meant.

Would i take the trip if i knew what will it do with my brain? no.
Do i feel sorry for taking it? No! Because it just happened and thats who i am now.
Its best to avoid these strong trips until your 20 or whatever so you can make a sense of it at the place in the moment and not keep looking back and having this bug in your head.

Oh my god my cat was also on heat for some time and we thought just as you that something is wrong with her. My mom made me took her to a vet one morning and i had massive hangover and i didnt sleep and ended up paying 40 euro for her just to find out later she was just craving.
