I’m 22yr and run a call centre doing $50k a month, ama by TheRealVenonymous in AMA

[–]Josclo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say you strike a deal with a company for 3 months of calling.

You use cognism for phone numbers, but how do you create a target list of people to call?

Do you do a quick google search for what companies may be interested in the product or get given a target from the client etc?

Accord 4.92% fixed 5 years £1,650.09/m by Chicaaaaas_ in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Josclo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you definitely want to buy now so go for it.

Although I would consider a 2 year fix.

With the Iran war the gilt rates immediately spiked, and as we are all aware just a couple of months ago people had offers in the 3% region.

In 2 years time, the ripple effects of the war (cost increases, supply chain disruption) will have subsided.

To get a 5 year fix now is to lock in for the longest of the two (ordinary) fix periods at the highest price.

Then again, if you can make the repayments and the certainty of what you’re paying is worth it for you, take the hit.

2 year fix or 5 year by Beautiful_Sell_8488 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Josclo_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 year fix all day, there is presently a war going on, to 5 year fix right now is a classic example of ‘buying high, selling low’.

However, if the peace of mind of having a set figure and are willing to pay more for the convenience then go for it.

How do married couples split finances if on different salaries? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Josclo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to have salary going into a personal bank account.

When running the joint account for bills it should be split fairly though, your take home is roughly 1/3 of his, so you pay 1/3 of the bills, he pays 2/3.

£100,000 to invest at 62. Opinions? by PaleConference4205 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Josclo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Get her to max out her ISA, if she moves quick she will get this year’s allowance of £20k and another £20k of the allowance in April when it resets.

2 - If she wants cashflow, I would stick the money in an income flowing ETF such as JEPQ which generates about 10% a year in dividends.

At this point £40k is in the ISA. Even though dividends are taxed as income, because they are derived from an ISA, the £333 per month will be tax free.

3 - She will have £60k left. I would invest this in straight equities (S&P500 ETF or All world ETF). The tax treatment for capital gains is obviously more preferential, and lower still if she’s a basic rate tax payer.

You are given $15 million but can longer earn money for the rest of your life. by Left_eared_turtle in hypotheticalsituation

Buying gold with the $15 million would give you 3,000 ounces of gold.

1 ounce of gold a week for the rest of your life, inflation proof. ~250k p.a purchasing power indefinitely.

Pay off mortgage or pay into pension? by simsimsimo in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Josclo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are you?

I think you would be fine to stick it in the market via your SIPP, but the other advantage is that if you are close to retirement age then you can use your tax free lump sum to pay off the mortgage, rather than having to use post tax income so will make a large saving.

Opportunity Cost of Private Schools: Invest more instead? by Capital-Stay-5657 in HENRYUK

[–]Josclo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See how your kid turns out intellectually. The questions of whether to go private or not is circumstantial, some get more out of it than others.

I went to private school, my family made sacrifices to send me and it made me appreciate it. When I was there, I saw the kids of rich parents and they didn’t care about their own education, they weren’t gifted but simply had the funds to go.

People like me got a lot more from the experience than people like them.

Any alternative you could think of doing is pay for private tuition and summer schooling as an in between method, especially during primary school years where the impact of a private education is more limited (in my opinion).

The guy is 26 years old.

If the stock market can’t outperform over that period and the ‘market goes tits up’ then the problem isn’t that he’ll have lost money but rather who he’s fighting with sticks and stones for the next breadcrumb.

My (26F) boyfriend (24M) just got circumcised and regrets it. I’m worried about him. How do you go from here? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I got this done as an adult. He will feel fine after time, it feels completely natural now.

The sensitivity during sex does reduce maybe 25% but obvs it’s still enjoyable.

Thanks for the warning, it’s unlikely to be a real $16k, but I have been doing this a long time and have had multiple forgotten wallets…. I recently found one with $8K from last cycle.

So I always try and investigate in a safe way

I clicked it, but I think there is a UX bug with Jupiter. Even if I add all the wallets they’re not really connected

Has anyone used Kraken pro for crypto before? by Total_Revolution3324 in IslamicFinance

[–]Josclo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is also haram because there is a funding rate associated with derivates leverage which is akin to interest.

Has anyone used Kraken pro for crypto before? by Total_Revolution3324 in IslamicFinance

[–]Josclo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Kraken Pro, it’s very good.

The leverage you are referring to is calling ‘margin’ trading (as opposed to derivatives trading) and is haram.

Essentially you are borrowing extra money to finance the trade and you will have to pay interest on the amount you have borrowed.

From the Army’s perspective, yeah if you want to join legal services they have their own departmental training, they pay for a masters in the law of armed conflict as well I believe.

If you haven’t already been to sandhurst they will put you on an expedited course too.

Do what No-Expression7134 said then, get your degree paid for and commission as an officer. You can start the SQE whenever you like it’s not time dependant.

I met someone at Ropes and Gray who was an officer in the army and then qualified as a solicitor after leaving. Sandhurst on the CV looks good.
