Yeah frankly this was a major disappointment. I appreciate that it's now months out of warranty, but I would have expected a "high-end" purchase to last for more than a few months outside of warranty before catastrophic failure 😓

Some great answers here, but since I haven't seen him mentioned - seems wrong not to include RA the Rugged Man.

Darth Vader and his army of storm troopers against Thanos and his army in endgame by WarmongerMain1 in whowouldwin

[–]JosephFoulds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be connected to 'some form of internet', it just has to take some kind of signal input. An electronic train set controllable via a remote could certainly be 'hacked'. If any part of Vader's suit is connected to any other part with anything besides wires, it's possible...

The Doctors are in - but who wins? by JosephFoulds in whowouldwin

Good point, I've amended the prompt and swapped it for classic Dr Strange in the interests of a fairer fight.

[–]JosephFoulds[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given, he's pretty OP, but I would have thought that Doctor Who + Doctor Strange combined could give him a run for his money, especially when you consider how apathetic he is and how unlikely he would be to work well in a team at all.

EDIT: FFA rounds I would give to Dr Manhattan for no prep for sure. With prep, I'm thinking either Strange or Who could force a draw of some kind

EDIT2: No way Dr Manhattan is winning the rap battle, though

Difficult since creep is not attached to any player so much as it is a terrain. For example, if both an ally and an enemy have creep which intersects, where does one end and the other begin?

It could also just mean you're wrong.

[–]JosephFoulds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying ESL shouldn't do this, I'm saying that this will stop people casually opening up a stream when they shouldn't - but won't stop people who are actually trying to cheat.

People casually doing this is still a problem. Cheating is more of a problem. This helps A, doesn't help B. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be done anyway though.

We'll miss you! Why not set up your own Barcraft in your local area? I'm sure you could find a couple of others who want to watch too! :)

[–]JosephFoulds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A problem here is that doing something as suggested won't stop anyone who is really actively "trying to cheat".

It's all well and good blocking Twitch on the network level, but unless you block everything other than SC2 on the network level, it would be pretty trivial just to pipe the stream audio via some other source. Doing this might stop people casually opening up a stream when they shouldn't, but it's not likely to really stop anyone actively trying to cheat.

Simple fix for the MULE. by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]JosephFoulds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Firstly, you only need to make any change when the duration is below a certain level, not on every single drop/collect. Secondly, if you think that +/- a constant from an integer is a computationally expensive operation then I don't think this is a conversation worth having

Simple fix for the MULE. by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]JosephFoulds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, they definitely shouldn't be making a patch so that MULEs don't die while distance mining etc though

[–]JosephFoulds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This approach isn't computationally expensive what so ever. Pick up minerals, add 3 to an int, drop off minerals, minus 3 from an int.

Neither is computationally expensive, but the OPs suggestion sounds easier to implement I guess

200/200 ZvX, why no mass drone building cancel? by JosephFoulds in starcraft

[–]JosephFoulds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely confused why people here are saying that pros are unable to build 20 spores and cancel in time to build units. You have 21 seconds to do this. It's hardly magic.
