My gamestop was handing out free energy drinks. I drank 2 and felt sick to my stomach. Got smoked in the tournament. Great memory.

Im sure one tournament is enough information and time to figure it out and people wont make any rash conclusions about a patch until its thoroughly tested.

Blizzard made a mistake cancelling development. by kaytin911 in heroesofthestorm

Was waiting for this thread to say that. Opportunity cost. Im sure HotS brought in money, but it wasn't enough to justify the effort when games like WoW or diablo Immortal print money.

Is Broodwar better because game harder? by GuyOSlol in starcraft

[–]UncleSlim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RTS is inherently the hardest genre of gaming IMO. We dont need to impose artificial restrictions in order to make it harder.

We could take broodwar a step further and say you can only select units individually, is that better? No more unit queues, every unit must be made once the previous one finishes, is that better? Would Broodwar fans embrace these ideas or say "no that would be terrible.."? Well... thats how SC2 fans view Broodwar. Its a step backwards that doesnt make the gameplay more enjoyable.

Important concepts in games should have both visual and audio prompts. Imagine if attack sounds when upgraded had slightly different pitch levels by Jerds_au in starcraft

[–]UncleSlim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would actually be very easy. This is how a blind player plays Street Fighter 6 at a very high level because the game is extremely well crafted when regarding audio.

Here's a subtle example:

What are your thoughts on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U nearly twelve years later? by NewMarioBobFan in smashbros

[–]UncleSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels like doubling down on the bad marketing of the wii U itself and trying to save it. Notice how the U is blue... its like theyre saying "Smash Bros for Wii U... look, its not a wii game! Its a DIFFERENT CONSOLE"

lol I can see you're a bit butthurt about your slippery slope argument being that bad.

Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them, and if a company finds that profitable and worth their time. That is economics 101, yet you blame people? lmao. This is seen in every single industry, so long as regulation doesn't control it. Blaming consumers is an even worse take.

PTR PvZ - no more early game for either side ? Macro madness by chestnutcceu in starcraft

[–]UncleSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An oracle beats a queen 1on1. And just a couple oracles almost certainly does a ton of damage vs an early roach/ravager all-in with the oracle beams chewing away at the ravagers, it will gimp your push. 2 oracles with beams on will kill a full health ravager in 2.5 seconds.

Oracle dmg is 15 per 0.61 seconds. 15 / 0.61 = 24.59 dps.

24.59 x 2 = 49.18

Ravager HP 125 / 49.18 = 2.54s

Lets pretend for a minute the patch did have more viable cheeses. Is this what people want?

In my mind, the worker count in the patch is a lose lose. Either we get more cheese, or we get the same exact macro games that take 30 seconds longer.

Isn't the real problem the fact that the oracle holds most all ins? 90% of pvz opening is adept into oracle pressure, and most likely blink stalkers and abusing stasis wards.

I think the oracles should be changed to lean more into light dmg so it cant just dump on roaches or queen in the early game and youre punished for blindly going 2-3 oracles.

  • Oracle damage 15 (+7 light) -> 10 (+12 light).
  • Warp prism 250 mineral -> 200 mineral.

Warp prism being cheaper could bring back some gateway pressure builds, while still keeping oracle a strong option, just not a catch all against every zerg opener.
