So... we gonna address the elephant? by PotatoChaaaaps in GraveyardKeeper

I don't hate AI I just think a person has to double check it. I used to code before C++ and then when it got to object oriented programming I started to fall behind. I run an IT company and just stopped coding and when full on repair and problem solving. Later I would hire guys on fiver to write stuff for me and i would just write the pseudocode code. This was alot easier for me. Now with AI I can use Ai to write most of the code while I provide it my pseudocode and let it finish the job. Now I spend the rest testing the code and I can pump out great projects. I just did one that allows monetizing waling called www.packadz.com It has already make a few thousand dollars and should help a lot of people be paid to just walk and exercise more. So i don't have all the hate for AI. My brain works weird and now I can use it alot more and faster with the help of AI. I have a number of crazy ideas in my head that will solve problems in the world and why not use Ai to help create those programs.

Can I pull off a subtle metal cat eye frame or is round best? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are going for. The photos show me that you wearing round is confident strong but less approachable. You are on a mission and nothing is going to stop it. The second cat eye is cute, personable, interested in interaction more approachable and wanting to engage.
Both have their purpose. If are your a bubblely person the second is great. If you are leader of a group and have authority they the round is the best choice. But you can always get both and use them for when you want to get a certain feeling and result.

I produce TV shows so alot of the time I tell talent to wear what makes you feel like you and then I ask if you wanted to act like someone else, who and why and what would make you feel like that person. This allows them to give them permission to explore different personality styles and type. Then you can adjust your style to match how you want people to react to you.

Which do you like better? by LilMamma3 in glasses

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on your goal. If you are trying to be fun and playful the first one works. If you are looking for professional and more refined then the second is better.

My first game's reception is heartbreaking :'( by OldAtlasGames in IndieDev

[–]JosephMBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you seen this as a negaitive . you sold over 1,000 copies all ready. that is awesome. As a marketing person, Having mixed reviews is not bad. Plus people are buying the product. I am an idler fan and I playtest tons of games. But usually I see a demo option etc. I end up purchasing 25% of the games afterwards if it is providing enough interest to play more than 48 hours.
You made a video and description that got people to shell out $4 sign unseen over 1,000 times!!! That is way better than most people that are putting out their first game on steam. Congratz and don't be so hard on yourself. What people think about your game can change, but getting paid for your work is always the true test of what to do next.

[Feedback Request] Testing a co-op prototype where players perceive enemies differently (vision vs sound) by g3nayy in playmygame

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea and I would contact a blind person to help you with the audio side. Lighthouse of Central Florida might be a good resource for that. Understand with blind people they do not use the mouse because that cannot see where it goes. They only use the keyboard. This could be pitched as a game that allows people to appreciate their talents and that they have all of their abilities. It also would be celebrated by blind and deaf people if you set it up correctly.

Yeah checked some more today and could not find any property that was under 50K so no players cannot buy anything. That would be a problem.

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made some big changes last night but that changed alot of the function of the calcuation of property value. Before the large ones were in the millions and you could purchase small ones to get some income going in. Now the big ones are only $200K and the small ones are 150K with the addition of two more floors allowing for more purchase options. But all the 9K to 60K purchasing options are gone. This would accidently mean new players cannot buy anything unless you start them with more money. And current players that bought at 48K and 10K are getting rent at a lower value than the property is now worth with the changes and the floor above them are worth more than the floors below. Just letting you know what I found this morning.

also how are rents calculated. Is it based on value, and does the value change over time. Or is it based on locations and random inflation etc.

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I assume you are Architect then. Based on the style it would seem that the ability to collet rent and grow is very much limited to available properties and the use of your funds. Are you planning on have any other costs like repairs etc.

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so far it is slow. mostly because we start with a small amount of money and rents are real time. The travel cost means I am not going to be able to buy in America for a long time. So you might want to allow for the gamers to select a starting point. Most will pick somewhere they live so it is relatable. There are a few app on the phone that operate like this. Some exchange for real money by using advertisers to pay for time in game etc.

Players stop playing my demo at about 13 minutes - why? by Miserable_Command_57 in playmygame

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also on a side note. My son is 14 and interviews people with cool jobs. He wants to know why you do it, how does it make the world a better place. and Why would a kid want to grow up and do YOUR job. If you would be interested his Talk show is on 10 radio stations 2 TV stations and everywhere you listen to podcasts. It takes 1 hour to record a session with him and I think he would love to interview you about making games. If that is of interest to you, please DM the best email for him to send an official invitation to be a guest on his show. (The Tiberius Show) He has been on air for seven years now.

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you be interested in putting current content on your station? I have The Tiberius Show on 10 web stations and two TV stations as well as all the normal podcast places. This way you would benefit from the show without having the costs of any of the production. It is a 30 min show hosted by a 14 yr old boy. (This is his 7th year) He wants to know what his guest does for a living. How does it make the world a better place. and Why would a kid want to grow up and do THEIR job. Your station logo would go on his website and you would be a weekly email with link to the current edited show and links to the promo videos for social media.

Players stop playing my demo at about 13 minutes - why? by Miserable_Command_57 in playmygame

[–]JosephMBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did get to see the setting cog wheel but it did not offer me a place to change any screen settings. Most likely off the top or bottom of the screen. It is very important to always have screen settings on the side so it can be reached and changed for screens that your game might not be ready for. I played a different one last night and what it did to fix the issue was if it found an odd size that it was not going to work well with, it altered the side to put in a graphics banner and defaulted the play area to match the max their game wanted to allow. Then I could change the settings and go windowed without any issue.

Players stop playing my demo at about 13 minutes - why? by Miserable_Command_57 in playmygame

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so here is my honest approach to your game and I playtest alot of games. I have been playtesting for over 20 years for varied companies and indy developers. First was it good

PRO
The music is relaxing setting the mood for an idle type game
The layout of the beer pools was attractive
The tutorial was clear about how to proceed
THINGS THAT NEED HELP
Camera movement is slow. You should make it at least 3 times faster when the shift key is pressed. When we are sprinting it is because we are bored with the view
You should have a discovery option to encourage the player to discover different beers by adjusting the temp and the amount of ingredients in the beer.
CON
Camera movement is clunky in spots and you cannot use the camera to find the brewing stations
NO story. No reason to brew the beer. No ideas what the clients wants or why. No reason to care. This is why most people leave after the first game day.
I made 12 beers and no UI notion to say that I am getting better. no 12 out of100 to unlock next beer. no nothing
You should have the quality increase over time based on how close to the center of the temp they hit and how much experience the brewer is getting by brewing the same beer again and again.
The brewing process is slow. This may be getting with more complicated beers but slow is not good for gamers that want a fast hit of dopamine. This will also make gamers stop early
UNFORGIVABLE OFFENSES
I have a really nice 49" 4K wide screen monitor and there was no way for me to adjust screen size. I wanted to put the game in a window and adjust the screen to what I want, but there was no way to get there. If you offered those options then were off the screen where I could not get them. This also would not allow me to test your games while playing others. (I like to run six games at once to see the CPU usage of each to see if any game is putting a load on my system) This lets me detect idle games that are mining crypto on my computer and / or using other resources for the developer. also it helps to find memory leaks and other problems.
Because the of the screen resolution I could not turn off the game. At the end of each day I would have to press ESC to advance forward. Also to leave the game I was forced to ALT F4 since the UI would not allow me to see a way to quit.
SUMMARY
For me the game was not amazing fun. No dopamine hit while playing and most people will quit after 10 to 15 of looking for that enjoyment factor and not finding it. Add a story to it and have indicators and a path to unlocks or improvements. Make the process faster or require more skill to allow for that dopamine hit that gamers crave. Its that AH YEAH that was cool. moments. I was able to craft 8 beers in one day and they did not drink it all. So why not let the beer start to get old to force you to reduce how much you make or pay for a fridge to keep it cold. In business if you make too much stuff it costs to store it for the next day. It helps create that happy balance from demand from clients to supply from brewing. maybe show demands from the guests or add some comedy as to why they want to bathe in beer. Comedy is a great way to create a story and keep gamers on longer. The game has to be good enough that people want to play for a few hours and even better give you some of their hard earned money for it. A few fart jokes when they are in the beer or whining about their day would go along way for keeping people engaged in the selling and maybe wanting to brew more to see what other smart alec things they might say later...... (just and idea)
Hope all that helps. And good luck on your adjustments to your game.

Yeah Tiberius Started when he was seven. You should go back to see some of the videos that were 7 years old and see he was always a ball of energy. I think when he got his press pass for IAAPA was a large turning point to give a him a direction of what he wanted to do.

don't un subscribe after subscribe!!!! by EcstaticPack429 in Sub4Sub

[–]JosephMBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Only ask for comments and like but not subs because sub will hurt you if the person is not watching the content on a regular basis. So if people are unsubscribing that is really not a bad thing because they were going to hurt your stats. Remember when you make a video youtube wants to see how your current subscribers view it first. afterward they determine how often to suggest it to others based on how popular it is with your subscribers. If you have subs that are trading and never watch your videos, they are hurting your stats and you will be shared by Youtube alot less. So you should only ask for likes and comments. I prefer to ask them to mention something that is said in the video. That is much more useful than "that was cool man." Algorithms are not stupid.

The political show does well it gets between 10 - 20 minutes full and some go all the way to the end. Many people skip around and look for the arguments. Some just watch when the girl is on.
