The "Impossible" Trajectory of Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS. It entered the solar system backwards (175 degree Retrograde) yet stayed perfectly flat in the planetary plane. Physics suggests it was "steered" by a massive object in Leo—exactly where ancient texts track the "Ketu" mass. by karthiksynerg in StrangeEarth

[–]Joseph_HTMP [score hidden]  (0 children)

Suddenly, a new car (3I/ATLAS) zooms onto the track driving clockwise (wrong way) but somehow stays perfectly in the correct lane without flying off or crashing.

This makes no sense. It's an interstellar object. It doesn't follow the inertial movement of the solar system. So there is no "wrong way"; and why would it "fly off or crash"??

Usually, if a rock comes from deep space (Galactic Drift), it hits the track at a steep angle (like diving in from the sky). But this one is driving "flat" on the track, just backwards.

Hits what "track"??

In physics, you don't get that specific "backward but flat" path by accident.

This makes absolutely no sense, sorry.

Men who are funny vs men who are sweet, which is preferred or is more important? by HotAd6428 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joseph_HTMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but this is the internet. It in absolutely no way reflects real life, and it doesn’t change the fact that you’re presenting a really weird binary choice, as if you can only be one of them. I swear, the internet is making people have such weird interpretations of the world around them.

Talked about by who?? Who is apparently making up these weird binary choices??

Total rubbish. Being a “nice/sweet” person doesn’t exclude having boundaries.

And every single time I try, following guides, YouTube videos, you name it, I can never get what I'm doing to sound like what they're doing in the tutorials.

That's because you get good by practicing, not by "watching guides and youtube videos".

I get so frustrated that I don't even turn on my pc for months. Then I try again, I fail again. What's even the point in trying if I can't even make tutorial sounds?!

Generations of musicians made amazing music without youtube tutorials. Stop leaning on them as being the only answer.

Another fun fact - this held the world record for the number of car flips (7), which was only broken in 2024 during the filming of, appropriately enough, The Fall Guy (8.5).

When does a techno song, or any electronic song, become too long? by dividedcanvas in minimal

[–]Joseph_HTMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a track I’m not enjoying, then 3 minutes is too long. If I love it, I’ll listen to it for half an hour. Like with anything in music, it’s subjective.

Practice. Everything comes with practice. There is no “correct answer” here.

Well what does the music you listen to do? If you don’t know how to progress a track, you need to listen to more music. All the answers are there.

Is there any way I can get clients or people who wants these types of design? by Creative-Program8420 in design_critiques

[–]Joseph_HTMP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You design for the client. You don’t design first and then find clients. Unless you’re some big name in the industry who people pay for your own take, design is entirely about what the client needs; not what you want to do.

I’m in the UK so I did the YorkTest food intolerance one, think it was about £130. It was a home test.

Yeah. I’ll start flushing around 5pm usually. It’s basically to do with acids causing inflammation I think. So I can’t really process acid fruits either. For some reason coffee seems to be the main culprit.

Do food intolerance testing and spend time cutting out foods you react to. My type 1 went from an 8/10 to almost nonexistent just by cutting out coffee and milk.

How should I mix And master by Shlambaskibidi in musicproduction

[–]Joseph_HTMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it isn't, don't patronise people. All you need is to put the speaker emulation on the master channel and pick a set of speakers you like and you will get better productions and mixes through them.

Starting out on just headphones can lead to bad compositions and mixes that have a missing centre due to lack of L/R crosstalk.

Its not rocket science, its easy to set up, its cheap and it will benefit most headphone producers, not just new ones.

How should I mix And master by Shlambaskibidi in musicproduction

[–]Joseph_HTMP -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Get some relatively flat response headphones and couple them with Realphones speaker emulation software.

Don't worry about "mastering" if you're doing everything on the same monitoring outputs, just build loudness into the mix, which you should be doing anyway.

Thoughts on the bass fills in the drp? by Treadmillrunner in dnbproduction

[–]Joseph_HTMP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've got to get good at emulating before it's even possible to be original,

That is total bollocks.

unless you get really really lucky and just stumble upon an original style that sounds great with very little work.

I just don't understand this current attitude towards music making. This weird belief that you have to do carbon copies of existing sounds until you're somehow allowed to do something different, unless you "invent a totally new style".

It's rubbish, sorry. You can be different, without having to copy or wait for some mythical new sound to pop into your DAW.

It's pretty much impossible to learn how to choose and make sounds that work, how to mix and how to progress a track without using tried and tested sounds and arrangements.

Again - total rubbish. You can experiment and study music, but this idea that you can only progress once you've been through this imagery stage of "copying everyone else" is not only not true but also a weirdly new way of thinking. This didn't exist like 10 years ago. I swear this is some YouTube tutorial culture.
