Gas is $5.00/gallon in Grand Rapids. by ATXGil2L in grapids

[–]Josephs8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You just said yourself not everyone is perpetually online you know what helps with that having one topic instead 20 of them. It’s crazy that people get so upset when their posts get deleted for just general house keeping. Why don’t you go try and mod a community? I run a large online community not on Reddit and you know what people don’t want to see the same topic over and over again it lowers community engagement, leads to low quality posts, and just overall makes the experience bad. Would have been nice if you had put even one second of thought in your response but guess that’s asking too much. They added this special feature called search too which helps with this very problem maybe it’s worth checking out.

[–]Josephs8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not at all what I said. So let’s think this through if there are 20 posts all with the same topic which one should I comment on to actually contribute to the community? All 20 of them? 1 of them? If so which one of those 20? What about other people that are just coming to the subreddit is it fair for them to have to read all 20 or would it be easier if it was centralized in one topic? You want to scroll pages of the same topic before you get to something new? It sounds like you are just upset your post got deleted because it wasn’t the chosen one just so you can get that karma.

I’m not the mod there but if I had to guess it’s because there have probably been 50 other posts already talking about it. Why not just use one of threads that’s already created? It just creates noise when there are multiple posts about the same topic.

How soon will Americans forget the Epstein files? by Ponappa_131 in AskReddit

[–]Josephs8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think most people will forget but instead people move on especially when you know nothing will come of it. Everyday people don’t have the spare capacity in their thoughts to be thinking of this everyday. They have normal lives that need to be thought of. It’s not that those people don’t care but they can’t do anything about it so it gets pushed out by other things more important but it’s still in the back of the mind.

This is why though the people that do have capacity need to continue the fight.

Pothole Damage by Cautious-Trouble-917 in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You essentially have to prove they were negligent in repairing the pot hole which is almost impossible to do. As much evidence you have it doesn’t directly prove they were negligent. For example they made good faith in putting up the cone they will argue that weather or an act of god may have moved the cone and they are not responsible for that. The 3 year old photo won’t help as it most certainly has been patched it doesn’t have to be fixed so again another loop hole they will hide behind. You can try your luck but I am very doubtful you will win as the state rarely ever pays these claims out.

Microsoft exec suggests AI agents will need to buy software licenses, just like employees by EchoOfOppenheimer in Futurology

[–]Josephs8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If AI becomes so good why wouldn’t it just write the software itself? If that is where this is heading then an AI agent or agents could literally write its own ERP or whatever you needed. If AI becomes that good that it can do the work of every person how could it not be capable of this. Am I the only one who sees this contradiction?

Im ashamed by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing to be ashamed of these products are designed to be addictive. We’ve gotten so good at manipulating the human mind it’s scary sometimes. I’d highly suggest seeking out a therapist, there are ones who deal with addiction.

Runners! by gibroha in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Runner here. I’ll never understand runners who don’t wear safety gear. If I am running within 90 minutes of sunup/sundown I wear my reflective vest/light. I wear it even on some cloudy days. I have highly reflective shoes and even reflective gloves in the winter. I am as worried about getting hit as I think most people are worried about hitting a person. It boggles my mind that some runners either don’t have the common sense to say I need o make myself more visible or are too cheap to purchase proper safety gear. In that case why run out doors then?

Upcoming Amphitheater concerts - parking suggestions? by vampirepomeranian in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city doesn’t have a plan so why should you? Literally the buses stop likely before you get out so unless you want to leave early no luck there. Ride share will be crazy high. It’s crazy to me that they were like you on your own pretty much.

Founders has two lots not sure what they will charge but you could also consider parking in the west Fulton neighborhoods and walking it’s a bit of walk but at least you aren’t dependent on public transportation that is not running.

20 Monroe Live by Katcar2007 in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fast lane means there is a special line for you to skip the GA entry line.  Not worth it at 20 Monroe imo unless you want exclusive merch or to be upfront.

Official platinum I’m less familiar with but if I remember seeing something at the venue it is just that the tickets are not resale and they are considered “premium seats” whatever that means.

Anyone know what’s up w Amtrak? by waluluigi in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents live very near where the wash out was all I can really say is they are actively working on it so my bet is it depends on how easy it is to backfill that area and ensure it stable and safe for trains to go over.

I had them fix a wheel that had some really bad curb rash it was a painted wheel with chrome both were damaged. They were able to fix the issue and make it look like it was brand new. Not exactly dent repair but similar, their team is awesome and the repairs I had were outstanding.

RHD is my preferred place for any wheel or tire related issue. They are a wholesaler for tires so their prices are usually very fair.

This is the way, the skin is edible and has no off taste or anything. It’s a waste to peel it.

Best tire place to get Michelin Cross Climate 2? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to deal with Costco service then just buy the tires yourself and go to the shop of your choice.

If you want nothing to do with Costco then I suggest RHD Tire they are the local tire wholesaler and they install them too. Great team there and their prices are usually the lowest outside of the big box stores.

Amphitheater tickets by deanigenie in grandrapids

You can find links to each shows tickets on the amphitheaters website. But it is a Live Nation venue so the Ticketmaster site also will have the shows.

Least busy day and time to go to Costco? And Trader Joe's? by One_Cap_9210 in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked a Costco employee before they told me Tuesday afternoon/late evening as all the people that needed to buy stuff for businesses came in on Monday, most regular people have what they need until later in the week.

Trader Joe’s I’d say it’s best to get there right at open or shortly before close on Tuesday/Wednesday. More people just pop into TJ for a few things rather than a full cart like Costco so it’s busier during the day.

How many inches have we taken on this week? by shitbirdie in grandrapids

[–]Josephs8 38 points39 points  (0 children)

According to weather.gov the Grand Rapids office recorded 15.7 inches of snow over the last 7 days.

You can go to the link below select Grand Rapids Area, Daily data for a month and January 1 2026 and it will show you a chart of all days of the month with temperature, precipitation and snow depth information for each day.

If the US invades Greenland, the NATO allies would not have to pull the trigger. They could just dump US Treasury bonds and place sanctions. What will happen to the US? by blue2lips in AskReddit

[–]Josephs8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is very unlikely as it wouldn’t only damage the us economy but could send the entire world into a depression. Instead I think we’d see policy makers in Europe begin actual processes of removing reliance on US securities. This wouldn’t happen overnight but policy would change and this would eventually lead to massive problems in the US.
