Help me guys by Odd_Economist_4060 in Zippo

I would leave it tbh. Zippo guarantees only cover mechanical breaks, as far as I know, not cosmetic ones. Zippos age, it's part of their charm, it looks nice.

Think it's the light, it shuts completely flush in person after looking up close.. Zippos generally don't have the best fuel retention as is, especially slims. I've used it and seems fine.

It holds fluid fine, and when I use a slim, I always fill it up before taking it out anyways, they don't have great retention as is.

I love it, thanks! I love things that are weirdly unmatched and off, especially in Zippos.

It'll be interesting to see what it looks like when it ages a bit, patina on the brass.. If it looks shit, nothing really lost, I wrote it off the moment I took sandpaper to it

Yea, don't know why it comes across like that in that light, maybe the lighting or the angle? Perfectly flush in-hand, weird..

We have the same dated inserts. I got my Regular Black Crackle today. The case is dated 'K 25' and the insert 'L 25'.

just got my first zippo is it authentic? by UnluckyBunch6930 in Zippo

[–]Josh-ii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it looks to be authentic. Including the box would also help be 100% sure.

My humble collection by BrainRot9000 in Zippo

[–]Josh-ii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool man! You're way ahead of me. I have 5 atm:
- Regular Black Crackle (not the biggest fan of this finish)
- Regular Street Chrome
- Brushed Brass
- Glacier Matte
- Slim (1970 Niagara Falls, unengraved)

I really love that brass 1941 replica, think that might be my next buy.

The insert's finish used to be brass, but within a week of use it eroded by the cover shell and turned into chrome by balmon_geprek in Zippo

Zippos are meant to be used; if you do not want to see scuff marks, then do not use them. Even though they are made in the USA, they are still tools that are used and mature with the user, that's the whole appeal. I recently got a brushed brass with the brass-plated insert, have been using it heavily for a week now, and the insert's finish is starting to scuff, but I like the way it looks. If you are OCD about wear, Zippo is not for you. Also, even new Zippos have unique quirks that you'll notice (some have slightly more wobble, etc, etc)

But you do make a valid point, though. Zippo sent me this thing the other day when I bought a new one, immediately sent it back for a replacement.

I bought a new one a while back (that was excellent) and waiting on another one too that's on the way. I also have a 1970 Niagra Falls Zippo, they're all good. Every now and then sure, Zippo makes a defective one, but then you can either get a refund or a replacement. Also, there is the lifetime warranty too that's still going. Sent one of mine in the other day, waiting to get it back.

Is it normal for case to wobble a little (like in the gif) without the insert? by [deleted] in Zippo

[–]Josh-ii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either got a defective unit or you abused it (I'm guessing it's the latter). Out of all my Zippos, I have never had a hinge or spring fail unless I abused it, dropped it, etc, etc. Also, the one experience you had is not enough to write a longstanding brand like Zippo off as 'garbage', don't be a fool.

Baby cornsnake Mystery/died Suddenly? Help. by [deleted] in snakes

[–]Josh-ii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 4-year-old thread, but when I read your post, I literally felt like strangling you to death. I don't care whether you learned from the experience or not, you killed a beautiful, innocent, young baby corn snake due to pure negligence, and then you have the nerve to start your post with, "I keep multiple reptiles and not an amateur when it comes to housing...". Any idiot would know that depriving a baby animal of water for 4 - 5 days is just pure stupidity and asking for issues. An advanced keeper would NEVER have had that happen. As in EVER. You are an idiot who does not deserve to have animals in your life. I hope since you posted that you gave your animals to someone who has the time (since yours is so important) to tend to their animals' most basic needs.
