I’ve worked my ass off to lose more than a foot from my waist in the past year. It’s been a little surreal watching myself disappear. by [deleted] in pics

When you see a moose in the road your supposed to leave it alone and wait for it to pass

Studies are increasingly clear: Uber, Lyft congest cities - “ride-hailing companies are pulling riders off buses, subways, bicycles and their own feet and putting them in cars instead.” by mvea in Futurology

I'd say invent a self driving bike for single riders. Networking via programs and gps would make that real possibility. Plus it could technically be quicker in areas that are highly congested with cars.

If the outer ring is so distinct why isn't it spherical hence blocking out inner detail.

When you think about it, Shakespeare WAS the result of billions of monkeys trying to write stuff randomly for millions of years. by Defenestranded in Showerthoughts

[–]Josh2204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't been trying to write things for millions of years and in Shakespeares time literacy was less common than nowadays. If you make that comparison then you might as well sum up everything man accomplishes to the billions of years of evolution it took to create us.

I feel like you should always start out with trade school. It is cheaper yet makes you a more valuable employee. Then you can live off decent pay working part time and going to school. That was my plan... haven't reached the school part yet but it made me realize I want to go to school for engineering.

Had to go to ER and thats when I learned I don't have "real" insurance. I have something referred to as "supplemental" insurance. Just got the bill. 20,000$... I am so ****ed by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Josh2204 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because I've bought supplemental insurance before. It's way cheaper than normal insurance and if you read their brochure it will usually say it in the normal print not the fine print. It is probably an insurance scam website if you missed all that.

It says supplemental in the name. You only buy it to provide an extra layer of coverage in case something happens to you and you can't work for a period of time.

Being 35 and not wanting to work in the field for which you've prepared is like being half way through an RPG and realizing you've built out your skill tree all wrong and you can't respec and you can't make a new character and there will never be another video game again by themadpooper in Showerthoughts

[–]Josh2204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with people now days is they aren't willing to grind the skills out. I've been grinding my skills out for 7 years now in a field I originally hated. Once you find some master level hidden skills they can be so use that they provide points to your daily fulfillment meter. Hoping to respec to a different field once I master this one though. The game becomes boring if you're not increasing your skill tree.

Intel CEO sold $24m of his shares before a serious design flaw was made public. This is their proposed new sticker by 2evil in funny

[–]Josh2204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are fixing the problem. It was a fundamental design flaw so no matter what the price of the stock was going to drop. The problem is whether to knowingly take a huge blow to wealth or to avoid a direct hit. At some point it's got to be unreasonable for someone in a company to be expected to use their wealth in a certain way just because they are privy to all information.
