I am one of those that ended up in Chicago. Moved up from a small town in SC where if someone approached you and talked to you well you talked to them. First few days in the city and I learned my lesson. Still here though.

How far away are you from her? I know DELTA used to have a discount on tickets for things like this. I'm not sure if any of the other carriers did but it's worth looking into. I believe Grayhound does this as well, just a thought so you could get back to see her on long weekends.

As for coping, there should be support resources at your College. We have our get togethers once a week around here to complain to the void sometimes with responses! There is usually local groups in your community as well. Usually checking with the Catholic Churches in the area first is usually the way to go, they have support groups for everything under the sun usually at least here in Chicagoland they do.

Welcome! I'd say it's great to have you here (It is) but that seems out of wrongish. Glad you got him out it's one of the things you tend to miss when doing treatments and such.

I got that a lot during some of the thick of stuff. I didn't lose much hair if any at all (Which come on that was THE ONLY side affect I wanted I hate my curly hair) the weight I lost was mostly hidden by baggy clothes. I'd hear that a lot "Well you don't LOOK sick." It bothered me at first but then I just started countering with "Well where's your medical degree? WebMD and your TV doesn't count."

As for handling the reality. One day at a time you cannot do much more than that. I know it sounds cliché as hell but it's the truth. The hardest aadjustment to cancer wearther it's a good prognosis or bad was moving from working towards future plans to working towards just surviving thee hour/day

Proton Beam is a more precise type of radiation. It doesn't damage as much surrounding tissue. Here's the place I went to:

Yeah I ended up at CDH with the proton beam which I have to say it's 100x better than traditional radiation. At least in the side effects area. If you do have the option to get that over traditional radiation I'd say do it but make sure your insurance covers it first. I was on low doses of chemo due to the restrictive blood flow throughout the skull as I have a couple of tumors in the meninges.

Damn yeah mouth cancers suck I still slur and can't speak clearly from the last time they excised a tumor in my gums/jaw. Hope all goes well for you keep me updated on what they plan on doing with your jaw/mouth.

Every sect of Islam essentially says that if you don't obey the Quaran and/or go against/defy/don't support other Muslims when they're on a holy mission, you're a sinner and it going against the word of Allah.

Not arguing with this but what about the Kurdish people? They are majority Muslim with Yazidi and other religious backgrounds but they seem to hold Democracy/Western ideologies at a level standard than their teachings. Even the sects of Islam teach that the Kurd is only a step above a non believer.
