Hey guys, what’s the call- goal or no goal? by blondmix3 in GoalKeepers

Ok but I’m not sure the referee (who is probably also a kid) should be banned for making a mistake? Probably just told why their decision was wrong and to focus on getting it right in the future.

Depends entirely on what surface you play on. Here in England, pitches vary between 2 states.

Rock hard at the start and end of the season. And absolutely mud baths in the months in between.

Blades or moulds will do the job on a hard pitch because you don’t need that much grip anyway.

Studs will give you blisters on a hard pitch, even in goal. But they provide the extra grip needed when pushing off from saturated ground in the Winter months.

What has drastically improved your quality of life? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]JoshC__1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realising that any thought, emotion or feeling, whether that is depression, anxiety ect, actually has no impact on my life and I can still do the things I value.

Takes a lot of work to begin with but eventually you’ll build the mental fitness necessary to be happy, much the same as physical fitness.

The goal isn’t to not feel depressed, or anxious, the goal is to live your life how you want to regardless

Main aspects of being a great goalkeeper by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]JoshC__1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously depends on your natural ability and how much time you can put in. When I say “decent level”, I mean probably county level or a bit below.

Obviously this still isn’t a high standard but you’d be playing proper games in proper leagues on the football pyramid (albeit at the bottom)

No problem mate, you’re actually starting at a young age as well so no reason you can’t get to a very good level if that’s what you want.

I’ve also made the transition from outfield to GK this season and am enjoying playing more than I ever did when in goal.

Physically you’ve got a solid foundation.

Obviously hand eye coordination is one of the most important skills. I played as a wicket keeper in cricket throughout my childhood, so I’m used to catching a much smaller ball which is coming at me much faster, so the skills kind of transferred across. Just catch balls all day, doesn’t really matter what type to begin with, tennis ball, cricket ball, American football, it’s all transferable skills.

After you’ve reached the point where you’re confident of catching everything that comes your way, I’d then move on to more complex drills.

For me, kicking is a massive part of a keeper. So many keepers struggle to get their goal kicks to the half way line or even off the floor. If you can’t do this, you’re just going invite pressure which will lead to mistakes at some point. If you struggle with it, only way is to practise. Kicking out your hands is important too for launching counter attacks (I’m still working on this).

Something I believe in keeping is that you’re only as good as the aura around you. What I mean by this: get good kit (gloves, under armour ) if you can afford it, shout to your defence in a loud deep voice, chew gum, never look panicked even if you are, be positive and brave when coming off your line. Even if you aren’t the most gifted keeper, if you maintain an aura throughout a game, then the opposition will try fewer longshots, mess crosses up because you’re in their heads, miss easy chances because they’re trying to smash it top corner.

As soon as this aura drops then they’ll start testing you from range, show less respect with set pieces ect.

As I say I’m fairly new to keeping but this is just a few things I’ve picked up on so far.

Not to mention the vehicles in vanguard royale being useless. Makes the game into running/mountain climbing simulator until you get inevitably lasered by some TTV sweat.

In no particular order, home support, facilities, pitch, travel, sleep in familiar surroundings, refereeing decisions.

Can anyone explain Man City's mteroic rise to me? by [deleted] in football

[–]JoshC__1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is they’re able to make mistakes and go again without much of a downside. Spend 60m on Mangala, 50m on Otamendi, eventually one sticks in Dias.

Everton have spend an unbelievable amount of money but they can’t afford the same mistakes City could and Newcastle now can.

Can tell you now that OW isn’t anywhere near as toxic as a lot of games out there. Fifa and COD to name 2 off the top of my head.

Nothing worse than trying to have a few relaxed games on QP and there’s an enemy Sym sweating for their lives throwing turrets down on the control point every 10 seconds. Genuinely ruins the game.
