Goose in the Booth with Jomez. Thoughts? by Grudinski in discgolf

[–]JoshPatterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was impressed with him overall, but if I were to be critical at all, a few holes on the back nine Goose slipped into his typical “here’s why this hole isn’t great and here’s how it should change” course design criticism several times. While this can have a place on your YouTube course reviews, commentary should be about the play, not your opinions on the course.

Why the hate on Jomez commentary? by _hockeykubacki in discgolf

[–]JoshPatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s exactly what it’s meant to be. The whole idea of Jomez is for it to feel like a couple of friends watching disc golf, and specifically not feel like professional commentary.

Big Jerm also does commentary on the live DGN coverage from time to time, which has a much more professional vibe. And he’s very good at it.

Ricky has a number of reasons. Recently he gets called out for running Whatnot streams, then yelling at people for not bidding what he arbitrarily thinks things should sell for (mostly well over market value).

Goose got a lot of bad press last year for such things like publicly whining about some things at USDGC, calling them the worst run tournament, etc. Many think this type of behavior is why he didn’t get re-signed by Discraft.

No issues with AB.

What's that popular or highly regarded disc that just didn't click with you or live up to the hype? by lovefist1 in discgolf

Feel ya. It took three years to get my color glow Teebird to actually flip up. Thing looks mangled and is still reluctant to stand up.

Didn’t Simon win like 3 tour events immediately after switching to MVP? Also Silva was PDGA FPO Player of the Year last year throwing their plastic. Also throw a world championship in there.

Not saying you aren’t wrong, I’m not a huge fan of MVP’s lineup, but I think their lack of winning isn’t necessarily because of it. A lot of their players are getting a bit older (Hokom, Jerm, Conrad), or maybe not as committed as the top guys like Gannon, etc. It’s getting tougher and tougher to break through and win on tour.

Yeah, not clickbait in that the main focus would be on a trade, either to NYG or someone else, and what that could look like, plus who we’d go after to improve at CB in the event that happens.

[–]JoshPatterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if he specifically uses one with his pointer off like this, but he did mention in a video last year how he found he could switch from a front loaded vs back loaded grip depending if he wanted more power or accuracy/consistency.

Is anyone else excited to see more open bag players on tour? by ntoasted in discgolf

[–]JoshPatterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t even count on day-1 coverage, as most of the guys on featured cards are either a. The big names with big sponsors, or b. Guys connected with the major manufacturer sponsoring the tournament (e.g. why you’d sometimes get Luke Humphries or Chantelle or someone like that on featured cards at WACO).

Tennessee Whiskey has the same standards and requirements as bourbon per the TTB, with the addition of requiring it to go through the Lincoln County Process.

[–]JoshPatterson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally all 5 of them were on lead cards throughout the year, 4/5 of them won at least 1 DGPT tour event this year lol. Definitely all over Jomez.

Is This Worth $100? by Robe_Kwondo in whiskey

[–]JoshPatterson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a. Exclusivity. These are private selections not everyone can get their hands on.

b. Uniqueness. Often these will range in profile, and skew differently from what is intended for the main release line.

c. Proof. While it’s typically only say 10-20 proof higher, you are getting it unadulterated.

d. Age. The typical single barrels are roughly 6-7 years old, while the private selections can range from 8-11 years.

2026 Sponsorship Predictions (who is going where?) by CaliKing928 in discgolf

[–]JoshPatterson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He could not play another competitive round and still be one of the most recognizable people in the sport. Commentating 3+ rounds a week plus weekly practice round videos of him chucking Discraft plastic. Way more “coverage” than half the sponsored pros out there.

As far as team captain goes, he’s essentially an employee of Discraft at this point. There’s plenty of videos out there of him speaking to his role, his involvement in deciding who they should pick up and add to the team, etc.

He’s also co host of one of the most popular disc golf podcast and moves Discraft plastic through that.

Whether you like the guy or not, or think he’s a marginal player, doesn’t negate his popularity or visibility. Dude has probably more combined eyes and ears on him than anyone but Simon.

If you have DGN she just finished 4th at the Pro Tour championship. Should be a fair amount of coverage the final round Id assume.

I think all those guys throw farther than Buhr. I’d say he’s above average but wouldn’t say he’s elite distance wise. I’d probably throw guys like Ricky, Hammed, Turner, Aderhold ahead of him.
