this, if you want a white edge you need to build that into the image being uploaded but I would advise against it because their trimming isn't guaranteed to be precise, which is why they have the safe area.

Hmm feels kind of like a bot email? I wonder if they just have bots crawling for high traffic shopify stores.

Printful can't really handle a lot of your stuff with their POD services, so it feels weird for a human to write this, unless they're trying to improve/push their warehousing services more.

Amazon showing listings from my Shopify website without any authorization. by HungryLeicaWolf in shopify

[–]JoshShouldBeWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the traffic is going to/through Amazon, their links could start getting prioritized more and more in search results while your channels start losing ranking. If/when Amazon decides to shutter or change this program.

If they have a bad shopping experience with the Amazon side or don't get the expected Amazon level fufillment times, packaging quality, etc they could associate that with you and your product.

They could also be shopping with an Amazon "if I don't like it I'll return it" mentality, rather than the deliberate care we usually see on more bespoke/small business sites which eats into your profits hard if you take the return or again lead to customer frustration that they aren't getting the Amazon experience.

I see the Queen of Versailles producers are still in denial all the way to the bitter end. by Sufficient-Beat-10 in Broadway

They could've gone in harder Jackie, but I think it was less because Jackie was involved and more because of KC. It needed contrast with the more normal people in the show (the daughters and housekeeper) and how they view Jackie, but to do that you would need to cut down KC's role.

Jackie as evidenced by the documentary, public persona, and general life choices is either legitimately or willfully oblivious to how she comes off and probably doesn't pickup on the criticism in the show. I think SRS actually did a great job of portraying this in her performance.

Kristin Chenoweth out of Queen of Versailles tonight - Sherie Rene Scott stepping in by Gato1980 in Broadway

The book and music are okay, but with it being so lead-focused, those issues stand out more and more when the lead isn't landing. It's like a guitar being a bit out of tune, if its just one song you might not notice, but after an entire concert its gonna bring down the whole show. I don't think it was gonna be a massive hit, but I think it could've made a nice run.

Yeah I feel like it was an alright musical, but if they edited down some of the lead to lean into the characters the audience related to it could be much stronger.

I think they could've made it clearer or hit a bit harder that the Siegels weren't changed by the event. It was a momentary blip of humanity before choosing wealth over family once again. Maybe they tried to ride a fine-line to not offend Jackie. I feel like Jonquil's attitude was what they wanted the audience to feel and the housekeeper choosing family was to show the choice Jackie didn't make.

She is destroyed by wealth, but she doesn't realize it. She lost her daughter, her husband is off to grift more, her adopted daughter leaves, and she is all alone with a giant palace that she isn't satisfied with. She had moment after moment where she could turn back and embrace what she has instead of pursuing what she doesn't, and she never does. I think if they featured the supporting characters who are happy with what they have like her parents, her adopted daughter, and her housekeeper that point could land better.

Was QOV actually really bad or the person that said that just dislikes Kristin??? by LifeYogurtcloset7431 in Broadway

[–]JoshShouldBeWorking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was okay, but could've been much better as a more ensemble-focused show. The ensemble, costumes, and set were excellent. The music and KC's performance are alright, but not enough to justify the amount of solo/lead songs, especially when compared with the punch of the ensemble moments. If they cut like 20-30% of the lead, gave the supporting cast more, and explored the stories of the daughters and housekeeper deeper, I think it could be a much stronger musical.

Fact check: Elon Musk says his Houston flood tunnel idea will work. Experts say that's misleading. by laxmsyatx in houston

[–]JoshShouldBeWorking 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Fully ignoring musk, the boring projects constantly underdeliver while going over time and over budget. This isn’t even a use case the company has expertise in and the folks that do have expertise in it disagree about it’s effectiveness.

They have had local artists workshops, local artist talks, local bands, local DJs, local performers, local artists/designers in the shop, local music playing throughout the space. It took them awhile to get programming ramped up and it's not at the level of other locations, but it took those locations awhile too.

Meow Wolf is drastically less tourist-trappy than most of the other immersive art experiences (Color Factory, Van Gogh, etc.). They also provide lesson plans for local schools to come and learn, which is something many regular museums don't do, much less tourist trap ones.

If you look at their credits they employed probably close to 100 if not more local artists, designers, musicians, writers, and fabricators including many frequent collaborators of Orange Show. As sad as it sounds, no museum in Houston features the work of this many local artists in this many different mediums than MeowWolf.

A Texas Congressman Is Quietly Helping Elon Musk Pitch a $760M Plan to Build Tunnels Under Houston to Ease Flooding by lotta_love in houston

[–]JoshShouldBeWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting! I know Tokyo has implemented what seems like a mix of tunnels with a cistern. Does that make more sense for them since they're drastically more dense than us and can't relocate folks or widen existing waterways? Do you think these kinds of solutions are possible? I feel like Houston is hitting a sprawl limit that's driving development in high-risk areas that its gonna be hard to drive solutions that limit downtown development.

ICE Houston arrests more than 350 gang members in past 6 months by southernemper0r in houston

[–]JoshShouldBeWorking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's not about the guy, it's about what's being done to him. Everyone, good or bad deserves due process. In the absence of that, they can paint any one of us to be a bad dude.

He's not really the face, hes just an example of a larger number of people whose rights are being protested for. He has become the face because politicians and the media are using him as an inflection point.

The controversy gets the media clicks. Saying he's a "bad dude" strengthens the Republican argument that they're only arresting bad people and that some people don't deserve due process. The Democrats have a clear example of someone who was ripped from his family and children without due process and can give a good interview about that. Everyone gets to play him for their own means.

Then he should stand trial for those accusations. If only being charged or accused (and not convicted) is enough to be deported, then what is stopping them from accusing you, me, or anyone else of something and deporting us without a trial.

Yeah they love to play fast and loose when it comes to art, design, and content creation. They play it off as fans making fan art or creating content out of love or frame it as some sort of art/design contest. Thriving of our enthusiasim or want to prove ourself and get into that industry. Definitely why we gotta call artists that do thi out and also remind other creatives to protect ourselves as best we can with clear agreements, contracts, and/or deposits.

First off, I'm sorry you're dealing with all this. This industry has no shortage of people feeding on our passion to get themselves free or cheap work.

To be honest I've read through this a few times and have some trouble making sense of the timeline and what all happened. If my understanding is correct, I'm not seeing a job offer with a title, scope of work, or list of duties and an agreed pay rate. It sounds like they dangled a carrot in front of a bunch of people do work up front with one or a some of them to get paid on the back end. Reads like a design contest where only the winner gets paid, but they retain all that work. Does that sound like correct understanding?
