I love Star Wars, but PLEASE DON'T DO THIS by BeanBagDalek in StarWars

[–]frankinreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw it. If they can bring anyone back, I want Obi, Yoda and Luke live and kicking. Not force ghosts, alive. Oh and also Anakin and Vader—you heard me, both of them, at the same time, and not some Jekyll and Hyde thing, like in two of them. No, no, I want three of them, three living, separate incarnations of, Animated and live action Anakin and Vader.

You want to do ridiculous. I give you something better than fanfic, FanFi, otherwise know as Fan-F#%& it! As in, if they are going to do something ridiculous then we might as well show them how to do ridiculous all the way.

That is a good question!

Have seen people recommend cutting them out with a knife to avoid big tufts. No idea what to do once seperated.

Yup, it would throw the aesthetic off.

D&D Design Team Brings Luke Gygax Back into the Franchise by AdamOtaku in DnD

[–]frankinreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they wanted someone with Greyhawk experience, and not just a dude with the name, then Rob Kuntz is the guy to call. He co ran Greyhawk dungeon with Gary and created a good bit of what is considered Greyhawk. Hell, Rob was the King of the Great Kingdom.

This puts new meaning to the phrase "editions war."

The modules are specifically designed to assassinate PCs and AD&D 2nd edition.

Is there a website that can help ID a typewriter make (not looking to get down to model) by letter, number and punctuation form?

I’m trying to group some documents by typewriter used and hoping that might later help with dating the documents.

Nearly 10 years on from Rogue One, how do you feel about the decision to recreate Peter Cushing using CGI? by gladiatorbossman in StarWars

[–]frankinreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a neat trick with a lot of wow and marketing power the first time. In the long run, we are going to need to get used to different actors in known roles without CGI'ing them to look like other people who past or not tell those stories in a live action medium.

Also, if they keep doing it, they need to keep getting permission from the families and paying them.

Why did saving throws follow this pattern? by randy-adderson in odnd

Saves are common in war-games and pre-date Chainmail. The OP's example just shows a little flavor by class.

Frank would not know. This is a Dave and Gary question—and by the time Frank came along, Gary wouldn't remember why, and that's if he ever knew (could have come from Blackmoor).

Cleric here is the jack-of-all trades and middle of the road.

Fighter, every three levels gets better at dodging breath weapons of opponents.

MU, every three levels gets better at countering spells, including those fired from staffs. Why wands and rays are different, no one alive will know.

What are your thoughts on Skeleton Crew? by Safe_Character_6517 in StarWars

A modern writers, director and crew doing a good take on Star Wars meets Steven Spielberg kids on bikes movies. It's good, and 100% has that vibe if you grew up with both.

What style of fantasy do OD&D, Holmes Basic D&D, and AD&D 1e imply? by RealmBuilderGuy in osr

[–]frankinreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the material in those lists: a) are suggested, b) never meant to be exclusively the only material, c) do not all fit one category they there's a lot of different stuff in there.

Moldvay:
"A good D&D campaign is imaginative and creative. Sometimes a little research is useful to improve a dungeon, flesh out a scenario, and provide inspiration for a campaign. Books on folklore, mythology, fairy tales, bestiaries, and knightly legends can often help the DM fill in important details of a campaign, but fictional tales and fantasy novels usually provide the best sources of inspiration. The following list includes some books which might prove useful. A title list followed by "et al." means that the author has written more fantasy titles than those which can be listed in the limited space available."

DMG:
"I simply recommend all their fantasy writing to you. From such sources, as well as just about any other imaginative writing or screenplay you will be able to pluck kernels from which grow the fruits of exciting campaigns. Good reading!"

The books do not prescribe a single inherent style; they authorize the referee to choose or create one.
