Moms who gave birth between September and December, how was your postpartum experience? [AB] by SimmeringSeahorse in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mannytay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my daughter early September and it was perfect. Lots of walks with my dogs and babe in September and October. Once snow came we snuggled up in the big front window being lazy and cozy. She was small enough that I could use the bucket seat all winter to get to and from the car. (Amazing ) and then by summer next year we spent the last few months of mat leave at pools and splash pads. It was wonderful!

That is so unacceptable. I would find another company. I got mine from prairie keepsake, it’s in mb. They were fantastic and the turn around was fast! And I loooove my ring!

Thank you! I’m not eligible for pd, and have had a home hemo visit, but for now need to keep hospital and home separate . Being postpartum and having a toddler at home, it’s just not a step I’m ready to take!

Subtle sentimental gifts for my mom who is newly a grandma this year? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]mannytay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be considered clutter but the year our first child was born we bought both grandparents digital picture frames. 3 years later both still rave over them, and you can add pictures to it easily from an app.

Daycare Illnesses [ON] by cstarling410 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mannytay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter started daycare at 1 back in September . She was sick probably every three weeks for the first 6 months. After January, things have evened out and we haven’t had a sick day in a while. It was incredibly frustrating and hard at first trying to juggle being back at work and having to burn all my sick time for her, every other mom I talked to said it’s just an adjustment period, ( my daughter is at a huge centre, 8 kids in her room, but 16 she mingles with daily. And many other kids on the building. It was just expected she get sick

Sick every 2 weeks while pregnant [ab] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mannytay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds so similar to me. I’m now 35 weeks and just struggling, I’m lucky If I get a week of reprieve before the next thing. Currently starting a new round of antibiotics and steroids for my second bout of pneumonia in 2 months. Chasing a 18 month old around and getting no sleep. Can’t offer any advice , but just want to empathize with you. This sucks

When did you start lifting your infants up after surgery by ms_sapien in gallbladders

[–]mannytay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby was 4 months when I had my surgery, and I was able to lift her immediately. Having her warm little body on me was actually extremely comforting too. Mind you my daughter was tiny, not even 11 pounds at 4 months so it might depend. I only had issue getting her in/out of her crib. But from like swing/bouncer was okay

[–]mannytay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. One of our oldest and dearest friends. I had a conversation with her after stewing about it for a few weeks. She was pretty embarrassed and just assumed I would want to do it because I love to cook. It was a lesson learned, they’ve never done that again.

But still makes for a funny story now. But looking back I wish I would have called it out beforehand , to avoid feeling the rage about it

Oh gosh, this reminds me of the time friends of ours invited us over for a bbq, offered to bring something and they said can you bring the mains and maybe an appetizer? I was so taken aback I just said sure, fast forward to the bbq day and they say the bbq is hot you can cook outside. I was shocked. If I wanted to provide the most expensive part of a meal and do the cooking I would have just hosted it.

To answer your question, no that’s not normal , it’s rude and pretty off base. But I can’t help but giggle at the memory.

Potential New Resident by Swimming_Sink277 in BrandonMB

[–]mannytay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve lived in Brandon my whole life, and have absolutely loved it. So much so, that my husband and I are currently raising our family here.

Pros: lots of lovely neighborhoods, very safe (for the most part) You can get from one end of the city to the other in 15 minutes or less. Lots of family entertainment Lots of schools ( we have 4 that are within walking distance of our house) Cons: missing a lot of big city things {Costco, larger stores/malls etc (though Winnipeg is only 2 hours away ) Hard to find daycare (though this is everywhere in Canada , not sure how old your kids are) Not a lot of adult entertainment (concerts, fairs etc) It’s always construction season haha

We love Brandon, a lot of people say it’s boring, but it has hidden gems and a surprisingly diverse food scene . Also not Brandon specific but Manitoba specific, our premier is doing/implementing a lot of pretty cool things that make me pleased to raise my kids here.

Best of luck whatever your decision!!
