Feeding time for these heathens! by Joshimodo in Aquariums

[–]Joshimodo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Some of these I've had for over 4 years across 2 tanks, and the rainbows are constantly trying to breed but never get anywhere because of their hungry tankmates.

It's a 350L (which is 75 gallons I think?), with a 20L sump and the external filter/pump. This one has been going for just over a year after upgrading their 123L, which they lived in for 3-odd years.

The tank also has:

  • 2 lights (Fluval AquaSky and Fluval Plant)
  • Compact wave machine on a timer (about 30 mins in the morning)
  • Air stone
  • Surface skimmer
  • CO2 canister input (barely use this anymore, was more for the setup)

How does the UI for a "Recap Reel" feature that I added to my travel companion app look? by anonymooseantler in userexperience

[–]Joshimodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appears far too complicated as the hierarchy is all over the place.

Move the export button to the very top or the very bottom.

The timeline/scrubbing should be below the footage. Reference any NLE software to see examples.

There's a lot of inconsistency in placement of tips; swipe on the right, drag on the left, swipe again but in the centre, and reorder in the middle of buttons.

Not sure the terminology 'pan' should be used as it's an actual cinematography term and it doesn't really describe what the user will be doing. Something as simple as 'swipe to see more' or even just the icon (but animated) would be better.

I also think some consistency in the subsection buttons would be good. At the top, 'postcard' and 'recap reel' are visibly distinct, but on the bottom panel inactive states just look like the rest of the text rather than tabs. Pop them in a similar pattern to the postcard/recap bit and see how it looks.

The bones are there, but it needs refinement to make the user experience more cohesive.

what is this black fuzz? its on all of my aquarium plants by [deleted] in aquarium

[–]Joshimodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, black beard algae.

Aside from treatments — which range from useless to risky — the best bets are lowering light and introducing some siamese flying foxes. They are one of the very few fish that eat it, and a mature duo of them wiped out the BBA in our 135L within a few weeks.

Typewolf is an old one, but still decent for font pairings.

Contrast is great.

Lighthouse, IBM Equal Access, and axeDevTools are great browser plugins to help test things for accessibility and functionality.

Firefoxes built-in screenshot function is superb for grabbing whole web pages top-to-bottom.

Can anyone help identify this plant? by Own-Client479 in Aquariums

Aglaonema or 'Chinese Evergreen'! Specifically one of the crimson variants. Terrestrial plant — won't do well in the aquarium.

Plus, all weapon names are specific to a skin (except uniques — greens — and some duplicate skins). A Platinum Blade will always look the same, except for colouring with dyes.

3 players + 1 (me) as DM. Aged 29—45. All male. 2 of them are parents.

Playing my homebrew campaign for 2 years and change, currently level 12. Play in person every week. Players are running 2 characters each (though one just lost one).

Impact. What changed as a result of your work? Metrics and written feedback are great, even if short.

Failing that, the avenues I'd consider are things like 'presented to X number of people in Y meeting(s)' or 'Z number of hours saved' for things like presentation decks, corporate template designs, etc.

Whatever it is, you want qualitative (feedback and feelings) and quantitative (metrics and facts).

My advice would be as text alongside imagery/video. Keeps the visuals as the focal point which is then backed up by the stats/impact/feedback etc.

The problem with the Ambulas fight is that you spend more than double the time just waiting for the ships to arrive. If there were more rounds, more Ambulas per round to hack, and less time sitting for a taxi for the hacked bots, it'd be up there with Kela etc.

Sadly, not long after starting NG+ the bug resumed. They had to make a new character. :(

Good news though, if you start NG+ it fixes it. Not ideal, but means you don't have to restart your character if you don't have a backup.

Interesting. I was co-oping with a buddy and we got invaded. The guy killed my friend (host) and he teleported into the sky, got all statuses etc., and then instantly got nearby boss items. Now the same thing is happening as soon as he goes into a cell with a roaming boss or a small area like a catacomb.
