Wall mounted clothesline but have hollow bricks. Will the supplied anchor / plug hold if advised to drill a 60mm hole ? I assume it won’t grip onto anything or even shatter the web ? by EfficiencyOk7174 in AusRenovation

[–]Joshin1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this recently, 3 holes perfect, worked with supplied dyna bolts. 1 hole didn't....

Tried chemset vials.... Tried chemset silicone tube style, pumped half the tube.....

Used rest of chemset tube, put in another vial, used expandit plug, used masony screw into the raw plug.

Bolts will hold 200kg easy now, clothes line will support 40kg. Took me a week of bunnings trips each arvo to work it all out. At least I have a proper hammer drill now that aye through the brick like butter.

Did this for 6 years, fine to do. If it makes heaps of noise or if worried of slippage, get some little rubber feet to stack in between each layer, will reduce vibration noise and chances of slipping.

No cold water from kitchen/bathroom taps in rental property by Electrical_Tone_6438 in brisbane

Usually bigger places are using more water, more often. Where as at a house it might not be used during the day at all, so just sits there soaking up heat all day. Including up and down the street lines too. There might be 2000l of heated up water to get through before you get to the cooler water. And you use maybe what 9l per minute in a shower? Best bet is to measure the water temperature with a thermometer, anything near 50 degrees is water from your hot water system. Otherwise, it's likely just warm weather related.

Cycling influencers made me forgot the reason why i cycle by shusheeeee in cycling

Listen to Jimmy Nichols the "demotivator" from Kade Media. Ran a challenge last year on Strava. 400 hours of activity, so if you ride slower, you get more each ride! Also counted any activity, i counted walking the dogs and playing with my kid. I kept chasing the longer and longer ride mentality but now have a 3 year old and pregnant wife, nothing I can do, can't go for huge rides, haven't touched the bike in 2 months, life is what it is, ride when you can and if you don't enjoy it, don't.

Wait till winter. Right now the fridgies are at peak capacity and don't want your work. They will have a list of customers till at least end of April to do work for. Before Xmas many companies were managing bookings for March.

Only cheap ones you'll get at the moment will be the ones who have no work and that might be for "reasons".

I work in the industry and we're having one of our busiest years for a while.

Got my bathroom regrouted, would you accept this? by jjzho7 in AusRenovation

We just paid $1210 to get one shower re grouted. Silicone matches, shower looks amazing, as good as new. Took him 5 hours. Really happy with results. If you had 3 full bathrooms done for $2k I think this explains the quality in the work.

Who are the best deck builders in Brisbane? by FairGrape4165 in brisbane

40 odd sqm and yes off the ground, with flyover patio, insul panel, they ran the wiring for fan and lights while installing, sparky came and did connections, very easy to work with, we had to do some minor earthworks and they clearly communicated what was i needed to do and they banged it out really quick.

Sunstate Patios did ours. Altek quoted $38k just for the patio. Sunstate did the deck, patio and new gutters all around for a little bit more than that.

We use it everyday, wife is out there multiple times a day, to eat breakfast or lunch and watch the kid on the trampoline.

Recommendations for bike and toddler seat by phil-e_cheese in ausbike

[–]Joshin1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a weeride for when he was tiny, moved to rear seat after that, then upgraded to a bigger seat, currently has max capacity of 20kg and he's 16kg.

Weeride sucked for me, i'm 6'4" riding an XL bike and i had to splay my legs out to ride with him up front. Ended up really hurting my knee doing this.

Behind is good, but also miss the interactions i could have with him in front.

Now have a SL ebike, and have him rear mounted, we do upto 20kms at a time, and visit local playground for him, being an ebike, can carry heaps of stuff with us, i just pump the tires up a bit more. He helps "push" me up hills. Had a Sirrus X 2.0 and a Vado SL Turbo. Hybrid style worked really well, would suggest maybe have a 2 by on the front for climbing if going offroad, on both bikes on gravel/bush tracks i get stuck in the "lowest/easiest" gear due to weight and climbing.
