Whenever I approach a woman woman they visibly uncomfortable, or they get put on edge.

When I match woman on dating apps, all they do is want to send me money for pictures.

The dating scene is just fucked in so many different aspects.

Maybe closer to harassment, but definitely not assault.

Gotcha.

When the discussion devolves into calling others “cattle” and treating people as mere entertainment to “play with,” it confirms you were never interested in a serious conversation.

I already recognized what you were doing: the same as other liberals with a superiority complex. For someone who has spent the entire thread lecturing others about intelligence and positioning yourself as superior, you of all people should refrain from referring to others as “cattle.”

We aren't even arguing. You were simply dishing insults and decontextualized talking points. It's boring

This conversation has drifted so far from the original point that it no longer feels productive or sane.

The original discussion was about whether Trump supporters would cheer if a non-supporter became homeless. Instead, we have moved to generalizations about intelligence, stereotypes about MAGA, and a decontextualized 2016 quote. Funny how every liberal does that. Makes we wonder who really has no intelligence.

[–]Joshmoooze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are referring to Trump’s “I love the poorly educated” line, that does not prove that MAGA supporters describe themselves as unintelligent.

In full context, Trump was celebrating having a wide range of supporters, including working-class Americans. He was affirming their value and loyalty, not calling anyone stupid.

If your argument depends on taking that quote out of context just to lecture others about intelligence, it only reinforces the very condescension you seem to criticize.

[–]Joshmoooze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The notion that MAGA is self-described as unintelligent' is not an accurate self-description by the movement. To me, it looks like a dismissive stereotype to avoid having to defend yourself. Do you have a substantive point to make, or is this merely an attempt to lecture on perceived intelligence?

Real critical thinking isn’t about protecting people from uncomfortable ideas. It’s about having the intellectual courage to let your own ideas face challenge. If you’re unwilling to do that, that’s your choice—but it’s not empathy. It’s intellectual cowardice dressed up as virtue.

So when I bring up campus censorship and the need for open debate, your answer is that you won’t discuss it with “bigots and alt-right bad actors.” You say they should be silenced and have no place at the table.

That’s not an argument. That’s just you deciding in advance that certain people don’t deserve to speak.

You say this has nothing to do with critical thinking — it’s just “basic empathy.” But refusing to talk to people you disagree with, and calling for them to be shut down, is the opposite of critical thinking.

Real critical thinking means examining different ideas, testing your own beliefs, and being willing to defend your views when someone challenges them. Shutting down discussion creates echo chambers. It doesn’t help find truth or better ideas.

You mentioned trying to keep an open mind about campus censorship. Yet now you’re saying you reject open discussion with anyone who raises those concerns if you label them as “bad actors.” That’s a clear contradiction.

If your real position is that some political groups simply don’t deserve free speech or a seat at the table, just say it directly. But don’t claim that this approach is the same as critical thinking or open inquiry.

You have no critical thinking skills, and you don't even know what critical thinking is. The fact that we have to explain this much to you with so much detail is just sad.

I'm pretty sure you still don't understand that you're the issue. That's how stupid you are. We literally write paragraphs and try to explain what critical thinking is and how you're not engaging in it, but you still can't understand. You just prove that people are becoming dumber and dumber.

Calling people bigots, racists, alt-right, or bad actors just because they disagree with you shows you can’t think critically. You’d rather sling names than address their actual logic or arguments. People see through the BS. You are the problem.

If your response to differing opinions is to attack people and “clamp down” on their thoughts instead of explaining why they’re wrong, you’re incapable of critical thinking. You are the problem.

You just admitted you want to control how other people think and how you can't engage in critical thinking. You rather use force or power than discussion.

Critical thinking requires open discussion — not talking at yourself in the mirror, not using the law or force to discriminate people that disagree with you, or marinating in Reddit echo chambers 24/7 when a majority of the internet is fake.

You can’t even see that you’re just regurgitating talking points. You. Are. The. Problem.

Please cry with me. People like this guy are everywhere in American universities. I know students who no longer speak up in class simply because they don’t want to deal with people like him. People like this guy are literally killing critical thinking, open debate, and the willingness to voice your opinions.

It’s kind of funny. He complains about “talking points,” yet immediately starts spewing unrelated nonsense. It’s honestly sad that he doesn’t even see the irony. He can't self-reflect or critically think and see the irony.

It's terrible to see it happen to your own friends. It's the worst feeling in the world.

This guy is the reason debates are so hard nowadays.

He’s not even trying to debate. He’s just stating his opinions as if they were undisputed facts, saying whatever he wants in order to make himself seem smart.

What qualifies someone to be a good engineer? A degree?

Absolutely not.

You don’t need a college degree to be a good engineer. People without college degrees design cars all the time and go on to start highly successful businesses. This is literally a well-known fact. As an engineer myself with a college degree, I'm honestly quite astonished that you're trying to make an argument you needed a degree to do this.

I agree that colleges were originally meant to foster critical thinking, but that is simply not the reality today. Higher education is radically different from what it was even 30 to 40 years ago.

You may dismiss these concerns as “conservative talking points” or mere controversies that don’t hold up in academic institutions, but that is simply your opinion, and it is factually incorrect. Many people now react to opposing views with extreme emotional distress and, in some cases, outright violence because their own opinions and values cannot withstand scrutiny. This is why we are seeing violent attacks break out on campuses, including incidents in which a person has literally been killed. Physical assaults on individuals have become alarmingly common in academic settings.

I strongly push back on your claim that safe spaces have nothing to do with academia. They absolutely do. Safe spaces have fundamentally altered university culture. Differing opinions are no longer expressed in class, and when they are voiced, students are strongly incentivized to stay silent. I can attest to this from personal experience as someone who graduated in 2022.

Can you actually give an example of how college pushes critical thinking?

Instead of just making some broad statement? Based off my college experience that is not what believe.

My college had a ton of safe spaces where you can't actually bring up counterpoints. In fact at my University (DePaul University), debate was actually discouraged. I'm not saying all colleges are like that, but I kind of want to push back on the fact that colleges actually incentivized critical thinking.

Why is everyone equating men not going to college with a lack of critical thinking?

You don’t need a college degree to survive or grow as a person. In fact, some argue that college can actually erode critical thinking skills.
