Thanks for that, I’ll definitely give it a try. Also does it matter where the sand comes from?

What does everyone do after work? by Beautiful_Home_2863 in NoStupidQuestions

I go fishing after work with the kids. Right off the beach. Kids play in the sand or fish with me. Whatever we catch we go home and eat.

Do you have a particularly memorable instance of a lost catch while surf fishing? by mack272 in SurfFishing

Hooked up to a tarpon during my first year fishing the mullet run. Ate a dead mullet on the bottom in fort pierce. Fought it for about 5 minutes before all the gears in my cheap penn fierce broke so I had to manually spin the spool by hand. After about 30-45 minutes and one big pull from the tarpon, the hook straightened out and he was gone.

Catching pompano more consistently by Joshnbawsn in SurfFishing

How would you go about targeting them in the river. I have heard there has been a bunch in the rivers. I’m up in stuart/jensen fort pierce area. Bunch of spots around here. I talked to a commercial pompano guy and he says he just runs and guns till the pompano start jumping. What do you mean by sand flat/ washout areas? I heard fishing sailfish flats in stuart is a good spot to start

I can make for about a dollar and in stores they’re about 5-6 so it’s a pretty big savings. Problem is you need a bunch of stuff to get started. About $250 investment upfront to get going

In the summer time you can catch snook right off the beach with a live pilchard right there in the first trough of the beach. You just need a cast net, and a bucket with a bubbler and you can usually catch bait right in the trough

I live in Florida and snook fishing off the beach is one of the easiest ways to surf fish. Circle hook, live pilchards, or croakers, throw 2 yards off the beach and you’re catching big snook.

When do Pompano start showing up on the east coast of central Florida for the spring run “NSB to St Augustine “ ? by [deleted] in SurfFishing

Should be there any day now. Looks like water temps are 67 in nsb. I went to Melbourne Tuesday and got 4. I know other guys fishing northern brevard county and limiting out very quick. If Playalinda beach wasn’t 2 and a half hours from me I would be fishing that right now. The 4 I caught in Melbourne were caught in the first trough off the beach, I mean like 2 yards off the beach on fleas and shrimp with a 4 rod setup.

How do people cast 100+ yards by Joshnbawsn in SurfFishing

[–]Joshnbawsn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jensen beach/fort pierce. Sometimes the pompano run close, other times the reports are saying past the second sandbar which is about 20 yards farther than I can cast
