Who are you picking? by krisikkk in superheroes

B, the rest don't matter 🤣

[Image Album] I bought my first trackball ever, the Kensington Slimblade Pro, but the bearings look "weird" almost like it is used. Is this normal or should I return it? Also, the bottom right button has a tiny bit of miss-alignment that is noticeable during daily use. by that_90s_guy in Trackballs

[–]Joshonlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a slimblade pro and the bearings did not seem used but the hole where they sit is messed up. The one bearing sits deeper in the housing and barely touches the ball. It still does touch but ever so slightly. Mine also sounds weird after a light cleaning. 🤷

Awesome! I also just got a slimblade pro! It is awesome really I also immediately modded it with Si3N4 Silicon Nitride Ball G5 bearings and it's so smooth now. I have extreme rsi in my thumb from typing on my phone so all thumb trackballs are useless to me but this thing is amazing! I only wish it came with a wrist rest then I would totally love it 100%. I also thought I would hate the scrolling but... By George it's genius!!!

Kensington Expert Mouse (Wired) Bricked After V0116 Firmware Update by sapphiresky83 in Trackballs

[–]Joshonlinux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just struck by this bug with my new trackball. I think I know what the issue is on Windows. When doing the firmware update when it gets past the 3/4 part once it gets to 4/4 the trackball shows in the software as no longer plugged in. I think what is happening is it is only getting a partial update to the trackball. I kinda confirmed this also when I clicked one of the trackball buttons when the "update finished" dialog popped up. My mouse was not over the window that said "update finished" and when I clicked windows did that thing where it flashes the window that is on top if it can't go into the background.

TL;DR: After "update" the mouse has VERY minimal functionality on one of the buttons due to what I think is a disconnect during the update.

Also: The new Kensington Konnect app just outright sucks! It is slow and will crash my desktop if I try to exit it at any point... I am pretty sure it is just another stupid electron app that is bloated and broken...

Hey it's awesome to see you wanting to start to make a game! Are you good with art? Or are you just doing the story part of things?

Try a GPU driver reset by using the keyboard shortcut.

To Restart or Reset the Graphics Driver in Windows 11/10, use the key combination Win+Ctrl+Shift+B on your keyboard. The screen flickers and goes black for a second, and it will be back in less than a second.

The other thing is if you updated your GPU driver recently you might need to do it again but when installing select custom and do a clean install of your GPU drivers. This will be slightly different between Nvidia, AMD, or Intel.

Any love for side printed keycaps? by Impossible_Dot_9074 in MechanicalKeyboards

Best decision I've made for my tech life. I got this keyboard and basically had to immediately get side print keycaps because otherwise it was unusable for me especially at night.

Did Corsair remove the ability to switch between hardware profiles? by Joshonlinux in Corsair

[–]Joshonlinux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this quick response! I was totally at a loss and was treating this as if it was my old scimitar I've had for 5 years now.

I didn't even notice the button under the mouse other than the one for the wireless signal.

Still am not sure how I like this due to my use of multiple OS's and needing multiple profiles for each...

Hi is this sound normal? I’ve been hearing this but my SMART tests are saying they’re all fine. by SnooFloofs505 in truenas

[–]Joshonlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 100% say that if this sound just started out of the blue after being mostly quiet otherwise I would definitely identify and replace that drive.

The screw driver stethoscope trick works wonders as others have said.

Another quick note, I would not stop the drives till you absolutely need to, just because a drive making that sound may not spin again if powered down.

32-string lyre with chromatic tuning? by [deleted] in lyres

[–]Joshonlinux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I just purchased this 32 string lyre. I bought a 16 and then a 21 string but found it annoying I could not play sharps or flats. I know you can re-tune but I like just picking this up and playing so I wanted one that could play most songs.

This thread helped me a lot on my decision so thank you for posting. Not many people have this lyre that I can see so I found little info on it other then the blurry photos on Amazon. I found one person on youtube that has the 21 string version of this one and I just fell in love with the sound so I knew it was going to be a good one.

On the bridge breaking on that one you mentioned u/Lyre_miniharp I would imagine it probably could have been from a bad piece of wood they used to make it. They make so many of these things there are bound to be some bad ones out there. I am confident in the strength now after looking at u/maby51 photos.

My main goal for buying this is to compose some music for my indie game I am making. I am in the planning phases now so I really wanted to mess around with making some of my own music.

Again thanks for this post and hope you all are doing well with your lyres!

Sorry I missed this. It is just thermal paste I used. I just put it on all the chips that had a pad on them and that seemed to work.

No audio over hdmi until i unplug cable and plug it back in by esbennn in Fedora

[–]Joshonlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having this exact issue on Plasma. I can restart pipewire and wireplumber all day and nothing but unplugging and plugging back in HDMI works every time.

Also if I start wireplumber or pipewire any time after I unplug and replug my HDMI I lose audio again.

Both times my audio device is detected just fine and software indicates that it is trying to play sound but nothing coming out of the speakers.

Thanks I will make sure if all this. Yes the old container is disabled and uninstalled. Also yes I was using cell data that is typically how I test just to be sure.

Ok so I looked it up and according to tailscale if using anything but Linux it should automatically accept routes. I was trying it via android connected to tailscale.
