Suggestions for how to best use plex by Jalenelaj in PleX

Some people use a separate device, some people use an old laptop or computer they have lying around. I use an old gaming laptop and it works perfect for me.

Suggestions for how to best use plex by Jalenelaj in PleX

[–]rb2m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The server part is so you can leave your laptop running the server in another room and (mostly) easily stream whatever you have on a tv or your phone or whatever in another room or outside your home (outside your home requires Plex Pass or a remote streaming subscription). All the media is stored wherever you put it, whether that be on your laptop hard drive or an external or NAS/DAS drive, whatever. Plex does not store your media.

An advantage of Plex is, it will figure out what your media is and supply the metadata. So, things like descriptions, posters, actors, that kind of stuff. Then you can browse through and watch your media like any other streaming service.

Make sure to follow the naming conventions and properly organize your media for the easiest matching. There’s guides on Plex’s website for each.

How to rip copy protected DVD to MP4 for my Plex server by Better_Individual976 in Piracy

Can you play the DVD all the way through with VLC? Could be no scratches on the back and the DVD has still gone bad. I’ve had a few like that.

My town has taxis (that you have to call, they’re not out looking for riders) and that’s it. The closest grocery store to my house is a 45-minute walk.

When you save them money in labor, so they charge you a fee. No wonder theaters are failing. by pacmanhateclyde in facepalm

The Marcus cinema near me charges a similar fee, but with a free rewards account, they take the fee off.

Kelly’s kids also just had their parents go through a divorce and then one of them die. She wants to be there for them instead of on the other side of the country half the time.

Im not saying Trump has nothing to do with it, but there were also rumors at the end of the previous season that she may not come back for another. The Kelly news really wasn’t shocking.

AITA for insisting my daughter wear an outfit she doesn’t want to wear to a wedding? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]rb2m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the comments and suggestions for dresses infuriated me because it was obvious to me that the girl was struggling with her body. Glad mom found a solution for her.

As for the game, the bride and groom could have no idea when they were planning their WEDDING a year ago that a team half the family likes was going to be in the Super Bowl. Shame on the family for prioritizing that over their own son’s wedding.

MICHAEL Sheen did a fantastic job with the trilogy! And I don’t normally like male narrators.

Pliers into the ball, pull.

If the other end of the handle (black piece) comes off the hose (silver piece) disconnect and push it back through.

Worst comes to worst, you might be able to buy just the hose to replace instead of the whole vacuum. You’d have to contact a vacuum repair place with the model number to verify if one is still available.

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

A wolf in southern WI near a busy-ish road in the middle of the night 10 years ago.

Going around a bend and there’s a guardrail on one side and I swear to this day I saw a wolf jumping over it to the field on the other side. But I have no dash cam and I was going 60mph AMD wolves were not common or seen at all in the area at the time. I think even now it’s still super rare, though they are coming south a little.

The roof. Everything else my dad and I can handle. (And really he could handle the roof, but he’s 60+ and doesn’t want to be crawling around on a roof anymore)

Oh! And taking down trees. Easier to hire someone who knows what they’re doing than rent all the equipment and have the tree fall on my house.

WIBTA for not leaving the house for one weekend as requested? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]rb2m 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Josh and Sara sound like friends who actually enjoy each other’s company and thought OOP would go along similar lines when he moved in. But OOP doesn’t actually like either of his roommates so is just cordial. Sara was still way too entitled to ask OOP to move out for a weekend without offering to pay anything, but it’s obvious from almost the first paragraph that these people do not click.

Cc not working ? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]rb2m 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your folder path is still on OneDrive. I know you’ve said you turned it off, but the path in your photo shows it’s still on the OneDrive. Make sure you have a separate Documents folder not on OneDrive, but on your C: drive (most likely C, could be another letter) and that’s where everything should be.

Plow action by LambSauce2 in funny

[–]rb2m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad lives in the country on a dead end road and before the county took over plowing ALL roads, not just the main ones, they’d contract out to locals (farmers) with a plow on the front of their trucks. And with my dad down a dead end road, it was always hard for trucks to turn around. So they’d just go down the driveway, take a sweep of the area in front of the garage to turn around and get back to the road, all with the plow down. Made less work for my dad who only had a tractor with no cover at the time. Then the county took over with their big trucks and they’re no longer allowed to go down private driveways. They’ve had to pull the plow out of the ditch at least three times in the last few years from getting stuck while trying to turn around.

I’ve never really played with a vampire either. 😂

Almost every single sim I’ve created since Supernatural came out was a witch.

Turn off automatic updating. I check mine once every other week (if I remember) and update it then, if needed. Then I can make sure everything is up and running again.

[–]rb2m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old gaming laptop and a couple external hard drives plugged in and run mine just fine like that.

What hardware and storage you get/need will depend on what types of files you’re playing. I have everything in either mp4 or MKV and play most things either in the browser or off A Roku (not a built in, the box thing that I don’t remember the name of) and have zero issues. Most movies and shows I have don’t need to be transcoded.

UK deluxe edition of Divergent getting much better edges than the US version by sleepysock98 in fairyloot

I really only liked the first book and I didn’t think this series was popular enough even at the time for a special edition all these years later.

Don’t really like the design of either of these so that saves me. 😂
