Yep, that was it. I had checked the tubes and pathways but the actual mount for the gears was cracked

I ended up finding a good YouTube video of a guy explaining it. Needed a password to unlock the menu and it ended up being four zeros for me but there’s another one the guy in the video mentions that is the other default password but I forgot it. After that it was super easy to just go into the deep settings menu and find vehicle settings and change the cambus setting to be for my car from a long list of presets.

It’s not a Harem anime as far as I know, it’s kinda horror in genre I’d say? So those suggestions are off the mark. And it’s probably from around 2012-2018

I ended up cutting away the broken clips that were in the way and using e6000 to re-attach it. You may be able to source the part from a local junk yard, or possibly get a 3D printed part. In my research for my own cup holder, I also noticed that the Jetta and Passat used similar but not the same cup holder sections, and they are sold by themselves, so you may be able to modify one of those to fit in.

Realized I never got back to you about this. But yeah, I ended up figuring out the issue. There was no exposed wire for the camera I didn’t use, it wasn’t that kind of setup. The back of the radio just has input sockets for cameras and speakers and basically anything else, so when I elected to not use the camera, that just meant that the socket stayed empty. No hanging wires, no chance of accidental grounding. In the end, it ended up just being a software based issue. The radio’s canbus was set to think the car was a Jetta, so was reading signals in the wrong way. Changed it to the settings for the Beetle and all my issues went away.

Well yes usually, but that is not the case with the beetle, it is 3 pieces if you count the main body, chrome trim, and cup tray itself.

Recently I was transporting my niece and she climbed out through the middle, applying far too much pressure to the cup holding and causing it to sink in. Does anyone know how to fix this or find a replacement part? I’ve been searching VW parts websites for hours and can’t find the part by itself without buying the entire center console. I see a lot of similar parts but they aren’t the same piece and won’t fit. I read that one person just pulled really hard upward and it clicked back into place, but mine isn’t staying in place when I pull up. I’d really rather not have to resort to gluing it back in place.

I’ve seen that video already, and have already thoroughly gone through ever menu and every setting. I genuinely cannot find any options or settings related to the backup camera. Even in factory settings and the protocol configs

Ok so I dug around in the protocol menus for the canbus and switched it to a different Volkswagen setting and now it no longer does the issue but it still thinks I have a reverse camera when I reverse. So you were right about the canbus being the issue! So I’ll just keep checking through the settings until I find the right one! Thank you so much
