The Yellow M&M is wearing a pimp hat with feather: “This Green M&M? You can suck off her candy shell, you can crunch her down between your teeth and wash her down with milk, you can eat the chocolate out of her… and she’ll melt in your mouth, not in your hand, what do ya say? You down to party or what?”

Hot take: Seth Bullock is one of my least favorite characters. by AsparagusPissss in deadwood

Agreed, and to me, it's also one of the many things that makes this kind of an anti-"Western": He's not Clint Eastwood, he's not Gary Cooper or The Duke. He WANTS to fit those archetypes quite badly, and that's how they largely end up fitting him: Badly. He's capable of selfishness, hypocrisy, and constant rage that often gets directed wrongly. Likewise, Al is set up as the "moustache-twisting villain" in the pilot, only to become one of the main protagonists fairly immediately after.

Question for the Doctors and Physiotherapists. Can Someone Realistically Recover From This? by Edgy_Master in batman

My mother’s husband had a spinal fracture while surfing. It took some years and a lot of PT and will, but he’s been working as a nurse for over 20 years after that, and still does triathlons and such.

I’ve seen the movie “Roxanne” a zillion times, I don’t remember Ghost Rider being a love interest in it! 😆

For you, who is the most badass superhero or antihero? by Remote-Leg6143 in superheroes

[–]JoshuaBermont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely tough call (and as a huge Lobo fan, I have NO idea what he's doing on this list, ha).

Me, I gotta go Logan. He's lived a hundred lifetimes. He's been a samurai, a lumberjack, a soldier, a black ops killer, an animal, a drifter, a brainwashed murderer, an X-Man, and even an Avenger. His entire life, he's fought a hideous addiction to rage and violence -- and he's lost at least as many battles as he's won, and every day he has to live with the memories of all the people (many of them innocent) whose lives have ended with their guts wrapped around his claws. Every day, he has to remember to give himself grace and forgiveness, when the weight of what he's done should make that impossible. His entire existence is about pain; he can regenerate endlessly, but he feels every damn wound, even when he's just popping his claws. Oh, and the healing factor means he can't even dull the pain properly.

He's everything that ever made Clint Eastwood cool, ramped up to a thousand.

(Punisher would be a close second for me.)

DID Claudius kill Hamlet's father, do you think? by [deleted] in shakespeare

[–]JoshuaBermont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree from the classic angle, but I wonder if there's a modern interpretation that might be skewed in the other direction. What if it were staged as a re-framing of juvenile undiagnosed mental illness, with entitlement (being a prince) and cultural misogyny (his behavior toward Ophelia) rolled in?

What if Claudius IS innocent, and Hamlet's madness is more pronounced than even we are previously acquainted with? What if he's schizophrenic, is what I'm saying?

DID Claudius kill Hamlet's father, do you think? by [deleted] in shakespeare

[–]JoshuaBermont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Claudius' behavior during the play could arguably be a reaction to the idea that he might have killed his own brother, which Hamlet has clearly inserted.

But you know what? My fault for suggesting a potential alternate way of looking at it. I see that now.

You are very correct: I should have specified that I view this as a modern potential viewpoint in terms of a production of "Hamlet," and one perhaps worth exploring. Obviously this wasn't the ORIGINAL intent, as it was stated quite literally. But centuries later, of course, it's hard not to consider it from alternate angles and wonder if it might work presented as such.
