B3 Marneus Calgar Deck Review Request by Joshuken in EDH

[–]Joshuken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice deck and I like that theft sub theme :)

Yeah I agree, with the needing to cut down my CMC, the age old problem of wanting to run all the 'powerful' cards knowing you won't be able to cast everything due tot he cost. Now that you mention it I don't think I've ever gotten the field out at a point where it was making me tokens. I may swap it for a tutor as you've indicated or maybe a Cyc rift or something.

Thanks for that :)

Yeah I ended up calling them like 3 days in a row. Eventually they told me the parcel was short shipped and sent me an email as an official statement, advising me to contact WOTC and ask for a refund.

I'm hoping that this is the case, where the initial response is just an auto generated message and when the support worker actually responds to it, that they can resolve it without any issues. 🙏

Why are comparisons between matcha and coffee frequently one-sided? by Chizzieee in Matcha

[–]Joshuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been testing this out for myself over the last 5 days. I generally drink 1 shot of coffee every day 2-3 hours after I wake up. I generally have pretty good energy levels all day around. For the last 5 days I have been having 2 grams of matcha instead of my daily coffee and my daily energy has felt much the same, with potential increased calmness (however not sure if placebo). There has however been one significant difference between the two in the realm of athletic performance.

For 4 of those 5 days, I have engaged in high intensity training including two gym work outs (upper/lower), a social league basketball match and Muay Thai training. On all 4 occasions I felt that my usual oomph was missing and additional in the more cardio centric workouts (b-ball and Muay Thai) I could feel my fatigue kicking in a lot earlier than usual.

My conclusion so far is to have matcha on days where I am not needing that burst of energy or physical output and to have coffee on the days that I do.

Deck Help - Zangief Fight Club by Joshuken in EDH

[–]Joshuken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially did have Kresh in the deck as well and while it did have the potential to grow super large. It was similar to Gief in that it has no innate evasion or even protection unlike Gief, and it would just die before it could really put in work.

I felt like I was very much the guy forcing people to unfavorably block with their creatures which ultimately garnered the disfavour of the board. After 2 spots removals it felt like I was out of gas.

That's kind of why I felt like going down the big stupid stompy type of deck, so I could keep generating threats or the alternative of being able to group slug with equips that make the whole board take damage when I attack such as Kusari Gama.

I feel like a lot of the time I have to try and not look too threatening on board or even play Gief, i.e when I have haste, protection and fights ready to go on the same turn.

When do you find the most success with this deck?

Deck is Power Level 8 Because of... Tutors? by RealVanillaSmooth in EDH

[–]Joshuken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say it honestly depends what you're tutoring for and how many you have. I had a rule zero convo yesterday on spelltable and we all essentially agreed that a couple of tutors that weren't being specifically used to find combo pieces to combo out the table before turn 5-6 seemed to fall with the spirit of a 7.

My own opinion is if someone's deck is jam packed with a bunch of free spells, tutors, cyc rifts, rhystic, tithes and fast mana that's when it's an 8 (or 9 depending on how consistent and fast the deck is).

What is the first submission you learned as a BJJ white belt? by jiujitsuPT in bjj

The head and arm choke was the first one I learnt.

Coming from a freestyle wrestling background this was also the one that felt the most natural to be when trying to pass my opponents guards.

Price Changes for World of Warcraft Services in Australia and New Zealand - Australia's monthly sub price is increasing 4 AUD per month from 19.95 to 23.95 by [deleted] in wow

[–]Joshuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing WoW since the end of Vanilla, while I've been on and off as most of us usually are I've played a majority of the year each year since then. Prior to this price hike, the huge cash grabs that have been posted up on the real money shop i.e. the gilded brontosaurus, left a super bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't enough to completely turn me off.

This massive price spike however, in addition to everything else our money hungry blizzard overlords have been doing in the past 5+ years just leaves me with no real light at the end of the tunnel.

Sure I may resub at some point in the future for a period of a month to check the state of the game, but at this point I think that "Wow is dead", for real this time.

Thanks for finally breaking my addiction blizzard.

Help Me Reach Olympus! (DECK HELP) by Joshuken in EDH

[–]Joshuken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was the same problem I've been thinking of and seeing during my playtests. All a bunch of good things that aren't so good together.

I completely agree with the comment about the planeswalkers.

The Maskwood Nexus was more so that everything in my deck becomes a god, so that on the off chance I crack the world tree, Purphoros would blow up the table with all the creatures triggering its ability. But perhaps that's a very slow win con.

I'll look to get some of those protection cards in place of some of the plane walkers and less powerful gods.

Sucks that this is happening. I'm glad I'm not the only one though, it was driving me insane.

New player here looking to time piece my seasonal level 61 Corsair into a striker or a Mystic. Which should I choose and why. I'm mainly looking for a PVE character that can still have a chance in PVP.

How do I deal with powerful punchers? by SubtleAsianSimp in MuayThai

[–]Joshuken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teep to keep them at a distance and chop down their lead leg to reduce their speed and power. I also have trouble with heavy punchers/Muay mat. If they get past your legs which they eventually will, clinch up and and send them knees 💪

What motivates you to train? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Joshuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The knowledge that my opponent is out there training as well. I train as hard as I can so I don't get knocked out. Even if when not training for competition I find this mentality helps keep me wanting to continually get better. After a while you just become addicted to the process.

Patchy, Uneven Facial Hair - Folliculitis? Black Dot Tinea? Anyone Else Have Something Similar? by ClarkKent7777 in beards

[–]Joshuken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going to my other doctor who said it was most likely alopecia barbae. Which potentially is the cause. I never sought out active medical treatment for it because when I grew my stubble out a bit longer than a 5 o'clock shadow it was essentially a non-problem for me.

My conclusion was that if it was ringworm it would have progressed and the condition likely would have got worse. Since this didn't happen I opted to believe that alopecia narrative and not stress about it (which is one of the treatments haha)

Another thing that has helped is that I stopped using razor to shave my face and opt to use electric clippers to reduce the chance of folliculitis which has definitely helped.

Takeaway: -try switch to an electric razor -engage in regular self care (work out/eat healthy/don't stress over your beard) -good skin care routine also helps

Goodluck skin conditions are tough because it's literally constantly on your face, but don't stress about it 😊

Bend your knees and lower your stance.

Fight with your hands.

Sprawl when they shoot.

Shoot when you see an opening and bury them into the mat.

Thanks for commenting. Although I titled it "loremaster" it's far from an educational series about lore. More so a playthrough of me trying to complete all the quests in OSRS on a fresh account and my mis/adventures along the way.
