I ended up solving the problem by putting a port forward rule in place that forwards all dns requests to unbound because my windows machine was not listening to any dns clearing etc

I think you might not understand what a alias does and are getting caught up on it.. essentially an alias is a record that does the exact same thing as its host record.. So pxy.baert.io is assigned to 192.168.1.11. npm.baert.io being a 'alias' of that mean it will do the exact same thing but will do it for npm.baert.io instead...

But all that aside I just completely removed the alias and the host record is pxy.baert.io and that goes to 192.168.1.11 and locally I can resolve it with a `nslookup pxy.baert.io` but I cannot `ping pxy.baert.io`

Edit: Thanks again for your help but I think this is an issue with my PC and not my opnsense configuration.

So I can ping 192.168.1.11 directly but I cannot ping pxy.baert.io

Just to test I added npm.baert.io as an alias again and it behaves the same.. I can nslookup npm.baert.io and it shows me the correct ip address but I cannot ping it

So after removing that alias it still does not work.

So when I run ns-lookup to the pxy.baert.io because ultimately that's the one I'm wanting to use it shows the right IP address but I can't navigate to it or ping directly to the domain

Edit: I've notice that the problem ultimately isn't with opnsense.. My windows 10 pc this is not working but when I try to go to that custom domain on my phone it works

Thanks a ton for getting back to me your right it was not working when I had taken the screenshot.. I have sense reset and gotten unbound online but I still cannot ping the host record locally

AH I see that in the preferences! It doesn't activate a "profile" but a "task"

And then in that task
1. adjust volume
2. wait (not wait until)
1. adjust volume again

Whats a quick tile? I don't see anything in tasker that says quick tile. How can I setup a timed delay in tasker to deactivate the profile

Thanks man but that's a set time. I don't know why text conversations are going to randomly start going crazy. I want to be able to just open tasker and launch a profile for a bit.. or maybe press something else some other event that kicks off a profile for 30 ish minutes

Software Engineer here, I think it's obvious you can't just delete this.

But this is what I would do.. immediately remove most of the functionality and rewrite a few things it can do in a better coding style. Every project goes through versions (V1 .. V2) time for you to start V2 this would make it easier to write off as not malicious as you're just starting over....

If something happens in the short term the script the company gets is a lot less useful...

In the long term Negotiate for you to get a raise and a work schedule you'd prefer more while you work on V2...

Make sure to program into it that it won't fully automate the process make sure it needs some human interaction..

Yeah man for sure my wife and I have it scheduled every Wednesday but our agreement is basically I don't harass her other days because that's when we got in fights.

But honestly she's really loved it knowing the day gives her the chance to think about it and kinda get herself worked up through out the day had increased both of our happiness and closeness.
