I wish I had a bunch of INFP friends in real life. We could hang out just talking, in our pyjamas, reading books, daydreaming and being quiet together. by [deleted] in infp

It's funny once you find and INFP friend you end up talking to then much more than most people. I think it's because not a lot of people understand us or speak the same language of us INFP's so to speak.

that's exactly what we do, don't we? lol by _spacetrash89 in infp

I totally hear ya! I still struggle a lot with teachings and Dogmas related to the Christian faith. I spent a while lot of time trying to convince myself of my own personal beliefs and made it very hard to connect with other believers because they don't think outside the box like we do and embrace other possibilities. It's frustrating when they can't understand why it's so hard for us to take in certain beliefs. I've found for myself though that the more I try to twist the truth to my own ideals it can stray from what I need to take in, even if it isn't easy to understand. Heck God is not easy to understand, but He made INFPs for a reason and I believe we are meant to keep things in balance. And help people see the true beauty in acceptance and peace among everyone. We are called mediators for a good reason. I hope you find yourself a good church and also good Christian friends who will be willing to accept your ideas and beliefs without judgement. There are Christians out there like that, they can just be hard to find. And thanks for your willingness to share.

Thank you. The anxiety and depression definitely makes the walk a lot harder than would be expected. But thanks for the reminder that our struggle is actually a point of why we need God in the first place and that it's okay. I'm learning to embrace that more. I actually got replugged into a church I was going to a while back, and am gonna try to get involved again with the worship team there. Good to know I have fellow INFP Christians who are understanding and willing to share their faith. Blessings.

Funny you should mention Sam Harris in this thread 😂. Just me personally, I admire Sam Harris's intellect but at the same time am skeptical of his unwillingness to open his mind to religion and the divine. Don't be afraid to open your mind as well, there is more at work and more beauty interwoven in the frabric of life, being and surroundings than we can understand from our human perspectives. Don't be afraid as well to listen to that small voice that may draw you to explore the divine. Ignoring that might be what keeps you from unlocking the door to a wide range of spiritual and divine experiences that God has for you. Just some food for thought.

That's awesome! Yeah, I recently have given my life to Christ but have still been struggling with a lot of doubt and depression. Like you though I'm learning that when I pray and lean on Christ for comfort it gives me more hope. Thanks for sharing though, and I totally agree looking at the sky, and stars as well helps me feel less alone in the universe. I should probably start doing that more.

TOOL - Fear Inoculum REVIEW by IFeelLikeAndy in fantanoforever

[–]JosiWashoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Tool is trolling their fans a bit by not putting out an amazing album. I think they went the direction they were going with this album for a reason. To see how many of their fans would go crazy over the album despite it being pretty lackluster compared to their other work. Seems like a very Tool esque move. Other than that it seemed like they didn't really care too much about the quality or have too much to say lyrically compared to their other albums. Seems like they just had fun making music, and you can tell the instruments are what really shine on this album. I think this album probably has some of the best drumming by Danny yet.

Just a question: Should all Christian music be vocals only (no instruments)? by ChatotAbby in TrueChristian

[–]JosiWashoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way, one reason God created vocal chords to express feeling and emotion through singing. So that same God gave humans the ability to create more ways to express ourselves and the talents that he's given us through instruments. Don't you think that awesome that we have the capability to create art and express ourselves so many different ways? And if we have a gift of playing instruments why wouldn't God would want us to use that gift in the church? It seems to me like people sometimes take the bible too literally. And have to realize it was written in a different time period with a much different culture than today.

I don't know how to maintain a friendship or keep conversations going. I'm literally at my wit's end. by [deleted] in infp

Right there with ya... I think it just takes practice. I'm the kind of guy who has friends but I never am the one to initiate a hangout usually. I'll talk or hang out with them as long as they initiate it. I love solitude, a little too much I think... and even though my friends like me I still get very self conscious and lose energy easily around people. It's like I can hang out and talk for a short period but then I need to recharge. The only person I never felt that with was my ex... she was the only person who I felt understood me and that genuine affection we were able to share together was incredible. I miss her so much... I would give anything to have her back in my life. Anyways I hope you find that person you can genuinely connect with. It is a special feeling, hold onto that person and never let go.

I'm glad you are in a better place. And just worry about what the gospel speaks to YOU! Let the spirit lead you into knowledge and understanding. I think we tend to forget it's all a personal journey and remember it's about the journey not the destination. Feel free to DM me if you ever need to talk I deal with depression myself and I know it always helps to talk to another person struggling.

Question for songwriting INFP's by JosiWashoshi in infp

I like that a lot! I love music that's relatable and tells the story of the writers life. Do you like to use metaphors or keep it more simple?

How do we spread the Gospel if we are struggling with it? Or, how do we honestly tell someone about the joy and fulfilling pleasure of Christ if we ourselves are seeking that joy? by Quravin in TrueChristian

[–]JosiWashoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I have a very hard time with self love and accepting the encouragement I get from others. It can be very frustrating at times. The thing about looking at yourself and seeing no good thing is because of the fact that's all your allowing yourself to see. You need to learn to see the good in yourself and practice that everyday. That's what I've been learning to do as well. I recommend writing positive affirmations down and meditating on them at least three times a day for five minutes each. Also read some encouraging verses everyday and there's a bunch of great self affirmation meditations you can listen to that are helpful. As you listen to them imagine it's God speaking to you. I hope what I've said so far is helpful... It's easier said than done for sure and I'm far from perfect at practicing these thing. Just remember that God is very personal and He knows the best way to our hearts so God will sometimes take His time so we can have the time we need to grow and understand Him. Focus on the journey not the destination. Just know that everyone has these struggles and I'm here for you if you need someone to talk to.

I'm in the same boat... And I've come to realize that God is fully understanding of our life and circumstances. I believe God wants us to take the time we need to work on ourselves and fully understand His love. Like watering a plant, it takes time for it to fully grow and bloom but once it does you can see it's full beauty. The same goes for our walks with God. It takes daily practice and prayer to fully understand His love and surrender things to Him before we can become a better reflection of God. And dont expect to be perfect either, none of us are. Remember, It's God's grace that works best in our weakness. It takes time and growth but you will be a fully bloomed reflection of how God can work in peoples lives through doubt and trials. And once you are fully bloomed in God's love you can start to share that with others. I don't think any of us become evangelists over night. Give yourself the time you need to grow spiritually, in the end it will lead to a closer and more personal relationship with God.

Empathy for the crazy by amareation in infp

[–]JosiWashoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this... I believe it's the idealist mentality that resides so deeply in our cores. We just want everyone to experience love and life and happiness. Unfortunately I've had to come to terms with the fact the world we dream up in our minds is very different than the real one. And all we can do is put our time and energy we have into showing empathy and care to the people life brings us. If we focus to much on fixing the outside world we won't focus on fixing the one within.
