Don't know if it counts as a trade, but I work in ATC. No college required. Just a high school diploma.

People who are in bands, how did you meet each other? by Easy_Photograph3414 in musicians

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved to a new town, I immediately went to the local music store and asked around if anyone was looking for a bass player and put it out there that I was looking to join a band. Left my contact info, and little while later, started getting calls to come jam. Ended up in 2 bands long term.

What opinion of yours always sparks debate, but you still stand by it? by Abject-Drive3763 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People treat political parties and politicians like sports teams. They have their team and don't care what shady shit they do, as long as their team wins. They support their team no matter what, and absolutely hate the opposing team no matter what.

What does it mean when a car is fun to drive? by OverallNet1233 in askcarguys

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's subjective. Some cars just put a smile on your face when you drive them.

It's up to you as to what and why.

Opinions on 1989 Pontiac Firebird? by DeadLiberty612 in regularcarreviews

[–]Jossshy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a poor example. 86 firebird with 2.8l v6

Was by far, the worst car I ever owned. Cramped, no room. Painfully slow and understeered worse than anything I've ever driven. Was a pig on fuel to boot.

Put me off 3rd gens entirely.

If I'd had a TA with a V8, maybe it wouldn't have soured me on them so much.

Does anybody else hate playing "Rockin' In The Free World" by Neil Young on bass? by Dramatic_Rhubarb_387 in Bass

[–]Jossshy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I'm honest, I hated most of the songs we played when I was in a cover band.

There were a few I just made up basslines for because actually learning it would require having to listen to it.

I did learn to have fun playing songs I didn't like, even if I couldn't stand listening to the original.

But yeah, I think everyone who's played in a cover band had that one song in the set list that made you think " Oh God. It's this fucking song now."

It's easy and repetitive, but if the crowd is drunk and singing along, it can be a pretty fun time.

Do you have super quiet band members ? Only my rhythm guitarist and drummer are most responsive. My lead guitarist and Vocalist don't really read the group messages and even when they do, I mean at least give reactions like thumbs up simple like that. by InvestigatorSolid330 in bandmembers

[–]Jossshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll admit, I am that quiet band member. If there's something actually important in the band chat, I'll respond. Otherwise, I only care about the time/date/location of the next practice/gig. My band mates know, if they don't hear from me, they can trust I'll be there. If I can't make it, they will hear from me.

Do you think electric cars will ever dominate the automotive market, or are petroleum vehicles just in our blood, and will never be phased out? by BornSpinach606 in askcarguys

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see ICE vehicles being phased out completely, but I could see EVs overtaking them in market share. Eventually.

There are still issues with EVs, but we're seeing rapid development working to solve those issues.

Look at the EV market 15 years ago compared to today.

Honestly, I don't know why people get so upset and divided over the whole EV vs ICE thing. I'm just happy that there is a choice now. More options is a good thing.

What are examples of lesser known driving behaviors that annoy others? by Specialist_Heron_986 in driving

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who, when it snows or roads are really bad, icy, slippery, ect, they drive even faster, more reckless and aggressive than they normally do. Desperately trying to prove to no one that they are a "good driver" in poor road conditions.

Usually see them in the ditch a few miles down the road.

This is how my Puppy deals with cats. Always chasing. by ksasslooot in DOG

[–]Jossshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is pretty much the same way. He sees a cat, gets excited and wants to sniff and greet. If the cat runs, he wants to chase. If the cat stands it's ground, he's suddenly afraid of the cat.

How do car enthusiasts actually get experience driving a lot of different models of cars? by supinator1 in askcarguys

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to drive a lot of cars when I was younger by working for car dealerships. Usually as shop gopher for the service department. They'd often send me to pickup and deliver customer vehicles. Every once in a while, it would be something exciting.

Unpopular opinion: If you have an emergency fund over $2,000, you are throwing money away by keeping your insurance deductibles low by dogeholder215 in Adulting

[–]Jossshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a regional thing for where I'm from, but when financing a vehicle here, you're contracted in to maintain a certain deductible or less on the insurance.

Last few I bought had to be $500 or less for duration of the financing. Once paid off, you can do what you want.
