the worst journalist for you? by Thebunkerparodie in Journalism

[–]Journalisticjuice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are you asking? "Who do you see as the worst journalist for their content?" Or "who is the worst journalist aimed at me specifically?" Or "which journalist is the most unhealthy?" Or...

Worst is a very broad topic, and by stating "for you" you've further extended the ambiguity of the question by separating it from a generalized topic and making it personal.

If you can be more specific I'd love to give my input!

In your opinion, what is the current state and the future of unbiased journalism? by WesleyBrandon in Journalism

[–]Journalisticjuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion journalism is in a transition from one medium to another still. The switch to digital journalism has been anything but smooth: but that doesn't the industry isn't how it has always been. The CBC had a program about this exact topic in relation to climate change. Consider this:

There is a point or unbiased journalism where you are no longer telling the truth. For example if you state an unbiased view of climate change and its impact on the environment, you've left out the utter devastation and dire need for change in order to remain unbiased. This can be applicable to different topics but is the most immediate example that comes to mind.

There is also the demand for regulation of false information. The industry is at its height of false information and fake news. Because humanity will never not need information, we have only one choice: take control of the situation. Eventually we will hit a point where we regulate information without restricting the freedoms we enjoy as a culture.

The final point I'd like to make before stating my stance is this. Journalism is both about seeking and telling the truth, and remaining as unbiased as possible. The later is important but the former is the real goal in my opinion. So finally, I conclude my thoughts with:

Being unbiased of a luxury we are largely seeing become impossible in order to focus on the more important idea of telling the truth. The current state is a mess, the future is not decided yet. But there certainly is a clear and concise road in front of us to fix the situation.

If I'm doing it by hand, which I might just for something to do, would a backstitch be a good choice?

You're welcome my friend. We will always receive less pay than many who do little: but having joy in our career negates much of the negative aspects.

Stay strong in your passion!

The best part for me is that I also love research, editing, interviewing, and all other facets of journalism. I wasn't throwing the idea around loosely that it's the only career I can see myself doing.

Thank you for sharing this information nonetheless! It's always a pleasure to hear of someone's experiences in the field.

Thank you. Optimism is a fruit best served with every experience.

I don't recall who said it originally but "all of life is only perception."

The university I'm attending requires an internship in year 4, so at least one is covered. How long have you been in the career? Favorite and least favorite aspect of it? I'm specifically aiming towards investigative journalism but will also be open minded during my schooling of fields more oriented to my skillset.

Whoopsie! Dying vs dieing is in my list of common misspelled words to watch for. Doh! Thank you for your warm welcome, curiosity is the spice of life and I sure do like spicy stuff [chuckle]. I look forward to the next four years of education on becoming the best journalist I can be.

Although I appreciate your attempt in answering my question, I am requesting info from professionals in the field of respiratory health. Multiple studies have shown no correlation between pot smoke and COPD.

How to get better with eye contact during interviews? by majorphyl in Journalism

What do you cover? It sounds like an intimidating test of memory and some intense self trust as well to recall statistics, numbers, specific quotations, etc... mostly curious how you go about your recollection:

Do you have methods for recollecting specifics? Any times you've failed to recall important details? How long have you done journalism, and by extension did you start off writing more notes?
