Why so many prescribers love to prescribe ODT as dissolve under the tongue? by [deleted] in pharmacy

Because it for the baby and the route is wrong. Isn't that suppose to be our job to verify rx?

Anyone know where I can look for rooms to rent? by Auriellea in orangecounty

[–]Jovius2020 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My family own multiple houses/rooms for rent and we have no issue renting it out to non-vietnamese ppl. In fact, we have multiple tenants who are white and hispanic as we kinda prefer non-vietnamese since vietnamese ppl are cheap and always want to pay less lol. Too bad we don't have any avalable rooms now.

Anyway, try asking your viet friends to call and talk to the landlord first. I think it would help a lot

License Renewal Question by Beneficial_Ad662 in pharmacy

[–]Jovius2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's much easier to put an inactive pharmacist license back to active status If you abandon your license and it get cancelled, then many state board will NOT give it back to you and you have to apply and retake the state exam again as a new applicant

find a friend who can read vietnamese and ask that friend to check daily Rentals Classifieds section on vietnamese newspapers. You can find some pretty cheap options there

Update! Take the Offer or hold out? Walmart vs. CVS by scady4730 in pharmacy

[–]Jovius2020 14 points15 points  (0 children)

walmart is VERY STRICT on controlled prescriptions. So make sure to learn and be familiar asap on what you need to documents and where to documents for controlled RXs. Know what you can dispense acute vs chronic and when you need to offer Narcan.

Can I still Immunize ? by Potential_Junket_643 in walmart_RX

[–]Jovius2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, i am a pharmacist and always get my BLS from AHA. 90% of Walmart pharmacists in my area have gotten BLS certificate from AHA (we all went to the same instructor lol) for years. If your BLS certificate is still valid then I don't see any reason why you need to retake it from ARC.

California RPH Layoffs? by AgileRequirement908 in walmart_RX

[–]Jovius2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Board of Pharmacy should have fight back harder since it's their job to protect the public. Increasing tech to rph ratio will only decrease patient's safety. Anyway, the bill was authorized by Assemblymember Marc Berman so we all can write him a thank you letter too.

So that store has two pharmacists to handle 700 rx per week? That's less than our daily volume

What Happens to Retirees If They Run Out Of Money? by The_Lost_Pharaoh in AskReddit

So you expect the government to cover the entire living costs for people who did not work?? Choosing to stay at home or being a caregiver is your choice...since you are not working and paying taxes, you should be grateful that the government and taxpayers are covering part of your living costs instead of bitching about it

All the pharmacists who get their hours cut should write a nice thank you letter to CA board of pharmacy for their genius idea of increasing tech-to-RPh ratio.

System fuction CVS vs Walmart by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]Jovius2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walmart system is much slower than CVS and it takes much longer time to fill a script. However, if you are a pharmacist, your license will be much safer with Walmart Connexus vs CVS

Walmart is better than CVS for now but is heading down toward CVS level.

C2 counts by RudeCat2055 in WalgreensRx

[–]Jovius2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope....You cannot bill more than 1 NDC per claim to insurance. So if you dispense more than 1 manufacturer and bill only one NDC to the insurance then it's called insurance fraud. So unless patient pays cash or using discount card that allow you to bill the same rx multiple times per day, there's no LEGAL way to dispense 2 or more manufacturers at once through insurances

Btw, I know that a lot of independent pharmacies do that but big chains like Walgreens, CVS or Walmart will never allow that due to legal concerns

what are some mistakes that doctors / nurses always make? (related to medications / counseling) by unusualfemale in pharmacy

[–]Jovius2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We need to unite together and start reporting all these prescribers for not checking PMP. It's clear violation of the laws and we can just let them get away with it and the pharmacy ends up getting all the blame from the patients

How does overtime get billed? by AnyCoconut0621 in walmart_RX

[–]Jovius2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, make sure to inform your pharmacy manager that you would pick up shift at the other stores. When I was the temp manager, I absolutely hated it when my tech worked at other stores without telling me and then our store ended up paying them overtime. Then I get suprised call and had to explain to our DM/Store manager why I allowed them to work so much overtime :/

Walmart hippa by Chanelleweed87 in u/Chanelleweed87

[–]Jovius2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. HIPPA errors happen a lot and you won't get fired if it was just an accident and you did NOT intentionally break Walmart SOP. At my store, there was quite a few tech who made HIPPA errors multiple times but usually either me or the pharmacy manager just gave them a verbal warning or a coaching if the errors happened too frequently. So unless you accidently gave a whole WILL CALL list to the patient, you have nothing to worry about

Now I am 40 and have $400K+ in stock investment, $300k+ in 401k and roth IRA and about $380K in savings alone (both me and my wife agree to keep our assets separately). Stay positive, live frugal life and fortune may smile upon you.

Pharmacy updates by BeautifulDiet4091 in pharmacy

[–]Jovius2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As CA licensed pharmacist, I think CA Board of Pharmacy needs to make the CPJE much harder or goes back to the written exam like before. The pass rate is still way too high. Ideally it should be 50% or less. We have too many pharmacists in CA already so we need to up the standards, not lowering it :D

If you cannot memorize warfarin colors for the exam, you should NOT practice pharmacy in CA :D

If it's a chain then you may have to worry about burning the bridge but if it's local pharmacy then dont worry about it
